New Isekai Anime 2026

Updated on September 22, 2026, by Mark Sammut: Fall 2026 is nearly here, so I updated this article to reflect the isekai anime 2026 lineup in its entirety. I doubt anything else will be announced.

As Fall beckons, the 2026 new isekai anime list should be complete by this point, and the genre has enjoyed, and continues to enjoy, a fruitful year. Naturally, a season cannot pass without a few boys (and the occasional girl) making the journey to another world, typically a fantasy medieval setting with magic, goblins, and princesses. Isekai and reincarnation stories have become so inescapable that they are kind of exhausting.

Still, when you’re in the right mood, these anime offer a power-fantasy escape from reality that can be straight-up addictive. Along with massive sequels like Re:Zero, Saga of Tanya the Evil, and TenSura, 2026 has seen the debuts of a wide assortment of new isekai anime, many of which deserve your attention.

“New” is the important word, as sequels will not be highlighted individually. That said, we’ll mention them in a section at the end of the article.

Winter 2026 Isekai Anime

Labyrinth (Movie)

While we don’t often get new isekai anime movies, 2026 instantly bucked this trend. On the very first day of the year, Labyrinth made its way to cinemas, albeit in Japan. Although it didn’t get a wide release, Labyrinth opened in North American theaters for two days in May, so it was temporarily available. Since then, the film hasn’t landed on streaming services, so we will have to wait to see if that ever happens. As far as I can tell, the reception wasn’t amazing, but I would like to see it for myself.

I’ll Live a Long Life to Dote on My Favorite Stepbrother!

Boys’ love isekai anime are basically non-existent; consequently, Winter 2026 having two of them was highly unusual. Sai Oshi no Gikei o Mederu Tame, Nagaiki Shimasu! blends isekai, reincarnation, otome game, boys’ love, and step-sibling romance into a combination that appeals to only a select few. The core relationship is between Alba, the reincarnated boy, and Orsis, his step-brother and favorite character from the game. Alba wants to use his knowledge to ensure he gets to grow old with Orsis.

As far as Winter 2026 isekai anime were concerned, I’ll Live a Long Life to Dote on My Favorite Stepbrother! was arguably the worst in nearly every area. That said, the episodes are only four minutes long and seem to have a shoestring budget, so you have to keep expectations fairly low. Beyond that, the premise is certainly unique.

Isekai Office Worker: The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter

Winter 2026’s other boys’ love story, Isekai Office Worker is based on a fairly popular light novel, which has already received a solid manga adaptation. While boys’ love used to be known for power imbalances and uncomfortable romances, the genre has matured a lot in the last few years, and Isekai Office Worker fits that trend. Kondou, the eponymous bean counter, is sucked into another world, where he becomes an accountant for royalty. Before long, his thorough work captures the interest of the Knight Captain.

This anime is a bit hard to recommend to just anybody, despite being mostly decent. You need to be a fan of both isekai and yaoi romance to fully enjoy this one, and I can imagine that some people who support only one theme might be tempted to skip this one just because of the other half. The thing is, Isekai Office Worker is a serviceable isekai anime AND boys love anime, but it is a good boys love isekai anime. That said, the main relationship leans more toward old-school yaoi dynamics than most recent entries in the genre, which isn’t great.

There was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her

Now, here is a new isekai anime that is just wholesome. There was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her follows Yoki, a human who was reincarnated as a demon and is now bored with his job in a dungeon. However, one day he instantly falls in love with a hero priestess, prompting him not only to confess to her but also to become an adventurer himself. As he tries to get closer to Cecilia, Yoki gradually begins to experience more of this world. While it leans into comedy, this show is an easy recommendation for romance fans.

There was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, so I Tried Confessing to Her is fun, albeit messy. Nearly all the characters are on the brink of being annoying, but they just about stop short. More importantly, the anime never pauses to let the audience catch their breath, blasting through character introductions and development. It is not necessarily amazing, but it is enjoyable.

A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation

On paper, A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation is the perfect Winter 2026 isekai anime for people craving a more slow-moving and tightly written story. Lizel has no idea why he is in another world, but he plans to use the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing, unique time. Due to being a nobleman in his original universe, he wants to go in the opposite direction by becoming an adventurer, albeit one who seeks fun rather than glory.

Although not technically boys’ love, this show gives off that vibe, especially in the dynamic between Lizel and Gil. A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation is willing to leave some things unsaid, letting minor behavior speak for itself without clarification.

Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord: Production Magic Turns a Nameless Village into the Strongest Fortified City

Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord follows the “reincarnated salaryman” route, a concept that gets roughly a dozen entries each year. As a toddler, Van remembers being a salaryman in a previous life, and he uses that experience to earn a reputation as a child genius. However, when he can only use creation magic rather than something attack-oriented, he is abandoned by his family, who leave him with only his maid. Naturally, Van sets out to prove them wrong.

So, yeah, this is an OP MC isekai anime. If you like those types of shows, this series could hit the mark, though it isn’t shaping up to be absurdly good (for now). Van’s ability allows him to change wood into pretty much anything he wants, or, at the very least, it seems like he can create anything.

Hell Mode: The Hardcore Gamer Dominates in Another World with Garbage Balancing

Winter 2026 did not have a really huge isekai anime, as all the big sequels were scheduled for Spring; consequently, a newcomer needed to step up and take center stage. At a glance, Hell Mode seemed the most likely to be the season’s standout isekai anime, at least in the sense that it should attract the most attention. Once again, we have another protagonist who answers a call for adventure and ends up in a game that promises never to end, and he unlocks the Summoner class that is actually a bit more useless than it seems (at first).

Although somewhat underwhelming initially, Hell Mode improves as it goes along, and it is fun to see an MC who has to fight and struggle for any type of progress. Yeah, Hell Mode lives up to its name to an extent, opting against letting its protagonist have the easy way out. However, it isn’t that dark a series.

Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling

Apparently, Winter 2026 had a thing for isekai overflowing with adorableness, and Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling might just be the genre’s cutest MC to date. As the title implies, the story follows a hero who reincarnates into a new world as a dragon. Obviously, this change comes with a period of adjustment, especially since it will take him a while to become ridiculously powerful. Felix Film and Ga-Crew previously collaborated on The Most Notorious “Talker” Runs the World’s Greatest Clan, which was one of the better shows of Fall 2024.

The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom

Every season needs a villainess isekai anime, and Winter 2026 was no exception. For better or worse, The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom delivers exactly the premise its title suggests. A villainess realizes she is in an otome game just before the prince dumps her for the heroine; fortunately, another country’s prince shows up and declares his love for her. Tiararose sets out to find a new path that doesn’t end in ruin.

B.King

With the success of donghua like Lord of Mysteries, Chinese animated series are starting to cross over, and B.King was a fine addition to that trend. Now, the series was not really part of the Winter 2026 lineup, but it aired during the season. The idea is cool, too, as it follows an author who ends up stuck in a world alongside his creations.

Spring 2026 Isekai Anime

Release that Witch

• ChineseTitle: Fangkai Nage Nuwu

• Subgenres: Fantasy
• Start Date: March 2, 2026
• Where to Stream: Crunchyroll

Release that Witch is, technically, not part of any season, and it ends on April 20. However, it deserves a mention as it is the best new isekai series of the year so far, surpassing all of Winter 2026’s Japanese productions. Release that Witch is a donghua, aka Chinese animated series, based on a web novel already adapted into a long-running manhua. The latter’s cover images suggest a lighthearted romp and maybe even an isekai harem, but that isn’t representative of the anime. In fact, Release that Witch has quite a grounded tone, despite featuring real witches and magic.

Cheng Yan finds himself inhabiting the body of Prince Roland in a fantasy kingdom akin to the Medieval ages, but not set on Earth. One of his first acts is to stop the death of a witch, Anna, who can genuinely use magic. While the Church considers witches an affront to God, Roland sees the potential of magic to improve the world’s living conditions and to introduce advanced technology.

Putting aside the witch aspect, a protagonist who uses their Earth-bound knowledge to build up their kingdom is a fairly typical premise for an anime, although Release that Witch shakes things up by not giving Roland any traditional powers. Instead, he must rely on people like Anna and his abilities to foster positive relationships.

The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser

Spring 2025 is defined by sequels, as some of the biggest isekai anime ever are dropping their next chapters. Consequently, any new 2026 isekai anime is fighting an uphill battle for relevance, and I predict that none of them will really stick around in people’s memories for too long.

The Strongest Job is Apparently Not a Hero or a Sage, but an Appraiser is a typical example of an OP MC story. Hibiki is teleported to a fantasy world, and he quickly realizes that his seemingly weak ability is actually pretty powerful. Also, like so many isekai protagonists before him, his first companion is a female elf.

An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess

If we are solely discussing new isekai anime, An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess is Spring 2026’s best, if not necessarily its most unique (as that is the next show). Essentially, this is a standard otome game villainess story, presented from the perspective of a boy prince intrigued by his fiancée’s outlandish claims.

This simple flip gives the anime a whole new flavor, and it helps that both Prince Cecil and Bertia are solid characters in their own right. The former is so brilliant at everything that he is constantly bored and tired of maintaining his “perfect” facade. Conversely, Bertia wants to play the villainess to ensure the heroine’s success, but she is utterly incapable of doing anything remotely bad. Their dynamic is charming and funny without leaning too heavily into comedy.

My Ribdiculous Reincarnation

Now, that is a title. Isekai, as a concept, has been beaten into the ground so thoroughly that creators have to really think outside the box to come up with eye-catching concepts, even if they elicit a reaction of “What in the what?” from readers. As much as I would like to see what could top it, My Ribdiculous Reincarnation will almost definitely be the weirdest isekai anime of 2026, at least if it lives up to its bizarre title.

This show is all over the place. The concept is genuinely fresh, with episodes revolving around Ore’s different lives, which tend to be anything but ordinary. Heck, the whole “reincarnated as a rib” thing is just a segment in the first episode. The anime moves at a blistering pace, with almost no time for things to sit or rest, and that extends to the characters, who mostly just go with the flow. There is a lot to like here, but its humor will be divisive.

Summer 2026 Isekai Anime

From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage

This Summer 2026 anime is a special case, as it qualifies as an isekai on a technicality. While originally hailing from Earth, the protagonist has already lived a full life in his new fantasy world, then dies and is reincarnated in the future of that world. Really weird concept, to be honest, but it is still worth a watch if you want an OP MC fantasy that mostly goes the way you expect.

Heroine? Saint? No, I’m an All-Works Maid (And Proud of It)!

Isekai anime nearly always cast their protagonists as the new world’s savior or, at least, a powerhouse capable of accomplishing the impossible. Heroine? Saint? No, I’m an All-Works Maid (And Proud of It)! also does that, but its main character, Melody, isn’t aware of that fact. Reincarnated as the saint of an otome game who is basically a walking god, Melody is completely oblivious to that role; consequently, she just follows her dream: to become a live-in maid.

She fulfills that desire through Luciana Ruttleberg, a count’s daughter who has fallen on hard times. The maid aspect is interesting, and the show mainly revolves around Melody and Luciana’s friendship. It is nice to have an isekai anime that centers on the relationship between two girls.

Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life

2026 hasn’t had too many reverse isekai anime so far, but Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life is a pretty fun example of one. In their previous lives, Ryusei Narukami and Meteor Hanaori fought many battles to the death, with the former as a demon king and the latter as a hero. Now, they have reincarnated as “normal” humans on Earth, but Hanaori cannot resist her urge to fight, much to Ryusei’s chagrin.

Let me just say, your mileage with Hanaori-san depends on your appreciation for loud, idiot-based humor, and I don’t mean that as a negative. Very animated and slightly obnoxious, Meteor carries most of the humor, with Ryusei acting as a straight man not only to her but also to a few other characters (the show gets weird quickly). Meteor is purposefully designed to be kind of annoying, to the point that Ryusei describes her as such multiple times per episode.

Honestly, I really like Hanaori-san, and it was my favorite new isekai anime of Summer. The comedy is an acquired taste that I enjoy, and the anime provides quite a few glimpses into their past lives.

The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System

After multiple delays and a fair amount of negative attention, The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System finally committed to a season, debuting in Summer 2026. So, why the negative attention? Well, GoHands is handling this adaptation, and the studio has developed a mixed reputation in recent years. The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today was pretty good, while Momentary Lily, W’z, and the infamous Hand Shakers were among their respective year’s worst series.

Coming from a family of Sword Saints, Elma is exiled when he is classified as a Heavy Knight, known for being kind of worthless. However, Elma remembers that he is actually in a game; more importantly, he remembers that the Heavy Knight class is actually absurdly powerful. Both the light novel and manga are reasonably well-liked, and the adaptation is OK, if not necessarily good.

The Forsaken Saintess and her Foodie Roadtrip in Another World

Now, here is an isekai anime for slow-life fans. For one, it actually stars adults! The female protagonist, Rin, has already passed 30, which is generally considered the retirement age in anime. She is summoned to a world as a saintess but is promptly rejected for seemingly terrible skills, leaving her to wander her new world and enjoy the sights and cuisine.

Yeah, this story is reminiscent of Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill, although Rin mostly teams up with humans rather than monsters. While nothing special, this is a solid enough slice-of-life isekai that works well as a weekly escape from reality, even if it might not linger in the mind for long. The animation and monster designs are fairly uninspired, and the series is at its best when it keeps things as simple as possible.

The World’s Strongest Rearguard: Labyrinth Country’s Novice Seeker

• Subgenres: Action, Fantasy

Ah, good old-fashioned isekai tropes. That might sound like a negative, but they are popular for a reason. Here is another anime about a corporate slave who reincarnates in a fantasy world with a unique power that is underestimated but actually makes him super special. He ends up at a party made up entirely of women, and he serves as their rearguard and support. The latter is a bit different, as many isekai anime MCs fill every RPG role while their female companions act as glorified cheerleaders, but everything else is pretty typical for the theme.

The World’s Strongest Rearguard will probably go down as one of 2026’s worst isekai anime, which is a bit surprising. Don’t get me wrong, nothing about it seemed fantastic, but this type of cookie-cutter series tends to just be a passable 6.5/10. The World’s Strongest Rearguard doesn’t really come close to reaching that threshold, slotting comfortably at the bottom of the genre’s barrel. If you really adore both isekai and harem tropes, you might get something out of this, but I would go out of my way to watch it.

Bananya: At-Home Party

Let’s end Summer 2026’s isekai anime lineup with a special case: Bananya: At-Home Party. Rather than a full series, this is an 8-minute ONA created to celebrate Bananya​​​​​​’s 10th anniversary. Like the rest of the series, this episode is cute, with the isekai element coming in the form of a stray cat who finds itself in the Bananya world.

Even Though I’m a Super Timid Noble Girl, I Accepted the Bet From My Cunning Fiancé!

Fall 2026 brings its villainess isekai anime in Even Though I’m a Super Timid Noble Girl, I Accepted the Bet From My Cunning Fiancé, another story set against an otome gamebackdrop. As repetitive as these shows can be, they are generally decent, as long as you don’t mind a few shojo archetypes and clichés. In this case, Pia remembers her past life as a timid grad student who was killed before she achieved her dream, something she hopes to rectify.

Despite boasting a fairly by-the-numbers premise, the protagonist’s desire to become an archeologist sets her apart from pretty much every other isekai MC. Once she regains her memories of her past life and learns she is a villain in an otome game, she tries to break off her engagement to her fiancé, Rufus; however, they end up making a bet that mostly helps keep them together. Expect some good old wholesome fluff.

From Far Away

A shoujo classic, From Far Away finally makes its animated debut, more than two decades after the manga’s conclusion. Noriko Tachiki is an ordinary schoolgirl who ends up in a gorgeous fantasy realm, and she teams up with a mysterious swordsman named Izark. Nothing too unique there, but the hook comes from Noriko being the Awakening, a power sought by every kingdom as it can unleash and control the Sky Demon.

Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with Zero Believers

• Based On: Light Novel by Isle Osaki
• Subgenres: Fantasy, Romance
• Start Date: October 11, 2026

Along with his classmates, Makoto ends up in another world, but he is the only one who doesn’t gain cheat skills. Instead, he has awful stats and magic, which comes with the benefit of caution as his classmates succumb to overconfidence. Before long, he meets a goddess with no followers, and they decide to help each other out. Makoto knows games, and he approaches his new world like a hardcore gamer looking to survive a broken world.

Magic Knight Rayearth

• Subgenres: Magical Girls, Fantasy, Mecha

• Where to Stream: Crunchyroll

Arguably the most highly anticipated new isekai anime of 2026, Magic Knight Rayearth is returning as a remake that will, hopefully, make this CLAMP story better known to younger audiences. To be honest, the ’90s show holds up fairly well and is quite accessible today, but that doesn’t mean the upcoming version has no place in the current anime landscape. As beloved as older shows are and always will be, many people don’t have the time or desire to revisit classics, especially cult favorites rather than unquestionable masterpieces.

Magic Knight Rayearth‘s legacy is tied to its blend of genres, as the ’90s simply didn’t produce magical girl, mecha, and isekai anime; fortunately, that combo is still pretty much nonexistent, so the show’s freshness should be preserved. The story also tackled some pretty mature themes of the era, and the art was absolutely breathtaking.

Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship!

Great! A new sci-fi isekai anime is coming in 2026. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good old fantasy, but this genre has a serious “every world looks the same” issue, and Reborn as a Space Mercenary will, at least, not be mistaken for any other series released this year. Whether it will be of high quality is another question entirely, though the manga is relatively well liked.

Takahiro wakes up in what seems to be a sci-fi game he plays, finding himself cast as his mercenary character and the owner of an absurdly strong starship. Naturally, he quickly finds himself surrounded by women, because this is still an isekai story.

The second isekai anime to feature a protagonist reincarnated as a goblin, So What’s Wrong with Getting Reborn as a Goblin? will hopefully be a bit more wholesome than Re:Monster. That said, they essentially tell the same story: A guy is reincarnated as the weakest monster, but unique powers let him grow more powerful as he seeks to become the strongest goblin and lead a nation/tribe. This time, the protagonist has a positive, helpful nature that will aid them on their journey.

Technically, Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation: Episode of Savanaclaw isn’t part of Fall 2026, but it should air towards the end of the season.
