One Piece’s Elbaf arc hurtles towards its conclusion at a blistering pace as the battle between Nerona Imu, the King of the World, and the warriors of Elbaf continues. Monkey D. Luffy, the new Emperor of the Sea, is going all out against Imu with his Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika powers. While weaker than his adversary, Luffy has been surprisingly impressive over the course of the last few chapters, all the while sustaining massive injuries. However, with the release of One Piece Chapter #1193 on September 13, 2026, he has now officially run out of gas, which confirms his defeat against Imu once more.
Despite wielding tremendous powers, Luffy is not yet ready to defeat Nerona Imu, and his lack of power is a wake-up call, as Loki moves in to cover him with his new hybrid form.
One Piece Chapter 1193 Confirms Luffy’s Defeat Against Imu
One Piece chapter 1193 was officially released on September 13, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Double Issue #42-43. In this chapter, we finally got to see the aftermath of Luffy’s powerful Dawn Thor Bullet that he launched on Imu in the previous chapter. Quite clearly, this attack was powerful, as it broke through Imu’s Shield of Emptiness: Tohu Va Vohu, and dealt deadly damage to him. The power of this attack was shown even more remarkably in this chapter, as it tore through the Adam Tree itself and sent Imu flying.

Quite clearly, this attack was incredibly impressive, but it still was not enough to put down the King of the World, despite him being in a severely nerfed state, as confirmed to us directly in One Piece Chapter 1182 on May 10, 2026. With Luffy already being on his last legs, this attack proved to be his last significant assault on Nerona Imu. Now, he is officially out of gas, as is usually the case when he taps into the power of Gear 5. With Luffy running out of power, he has now lost at yet another attempt to take down the King of the World. Meanwhile, Loki, the Accursed Prince of Elbaf, moves in to cover for him as he taps into his Ryu Ryu no Mi Model: Nidhoggr hybrid form for the very first time. With his new form, Loki has now moved ahead of Luffy as Elbaf’s strongest warrior, and we are eager to see how he performs in battle from here onwards.

Loki Steps In For Luffy With His Hybrid Form
The powers of the Ryu Ryu no Mi Model: Nidhoggr were always stated to be immense. In fact, at the beginning of the Elbaf arc, it was clearly stated to us that this Devil Fruit holds the power to destroy the entire world. When Loki tapped into it for the very first time in Chapter 1175 on March 2, 2026, it was clear to see that this ability could easily destroy entire islands. Loki’s abilities were properly tested upon the descent of Nerona Imu on Elbaf in One Piece Chapter #1179 on April 5, 2026. Since then, he has shown a wide array of his Devil Fruit abilities to us. Unfortunately, everything that he has tried has proven to be insufficient in taking down a weakened Imu, and that just goes to show how strong the King of the World is.

Now, however, Loki has decided to risk it all by bringing out his strongest transformation, that is, the hybrid form of his Mythical Zoan Ryu Ryu no Mi Model: Nidhoggr. This hybrid form will grant him the power of the Nidhoggr dragon in a humanoid body, making him his most efficient version.
While this power is certainly going to help him deal more damage to Imu, at the end of the day, it is likely not going to be enough to defeat him. The primary reason for Loki’s defeat is his lack of strength, but more importantly, he serves as a setup for Luffy to join the battle once again and, this time, deal with the threat of Imu properly to save Elbaf.
Luffy Vs Imu Is Set To Resume After Loki’s Fight Ends
It goes without saying that Luffy has lost two battles against Imu now. The first round ended with Luffy nearly being killed after being stabbed by the Blade of Nothingness: Vohu, and the second round ended with Luffy running out of steam and being protected by Loki. Now, in the third round, Luffy is going to return stronger than ever before and possibly with a new transformation. This time, he will succeed in the defense of Elbaf. That said, fans should not mistake this for a victory for Monkey D. Luffy. The goal here is to save Elbaf and the children from the threat of the World Government. To do this, Luffy knows that he has to go all out and possibly even sacrifice himself. It is highly likely that Luffy will fall to Nerona Imu and defend Elbaf at the same time.

Not only will this deliver a proper, emphatic conclusion to the Elbaf arc, but it will also raise the stakes for what is to come. A rescue arc for Monkey D. Luffy led by the Straw Hat Pirates would certainly be enjoyable for all the fans of the series to watch, just as a rescue of Ace was in the pre-timeskip of One Piece. All things point towards the intensity of the Elbaf arc only growing from here onwards, and we absolutely cannot wait to see what Eiichiro Oda delivers in the weeks to come.
