Roblox players may soon be able to find their next game by simply describing what they want, but the reported AI-powered update has already divided the community.
There are countless games, officially known as experiences, available across Roblox. That variety is one of the platform’s biggest strengths, but it can also make finding something new feel overwhelming unless players already know the exact title they want.
To make discovery easier, Roblox is reportedly testing an AI-assisted game search feature that would understand broader requests and recommend relevant experiences. But it’s not beloved by all.
Roblox AI search could help players find similar games
According to a report from Roblox RTC, the feature would essentially allow players to describe the type of game they want rather than relying on an exact title or keyword.
For example, searching “I want to play something like GTA 6” could bring up Roblox games with similar open-world crime themes, such as Jailbreak or Prison Life. Likewise, typing “games like Grow a Garden” could produce a selection of farming, simulator, and idle experiences inspired by similar ideas.
This could make it easier for players to move beyond Roblox’s biggest titles without needing to know what competing games are called.
Some players have welcomed the reported feature, calling it a “good update” that “could be useful if the recommendations are actually good.”
Another user said: “I think this isn’t so bad. For me, the current search results feel quite bland, so maybe this feature will help players to find games more specific to what they like.”
However, others are concerned that AI-powered recommendations could prioritize Roblox’s already popular games and make discovery even harder for smaller developers.
One critic called the update “terrible,” claiming it “will not help people to find new or indie or underrated games at all.” Another warned: “This will completely kill small games relying on exact keyword search.”
Roblox hasn’t officially confirmed how the reported system would rank games, whether exact title searches would change, or when the feature could become widely available.
