A man using the new GPT-6 Astra AI has taken to X to share some of the model’s craziest capabilities, including a simulation within a simulation.
GPT-6 Astra is the new flagship model of AI that is capable of carrying out complicated, multi-step jobs, rather than just working as a chatbot. It has “state-of-the-art capabilities across computer use, coding, cybersecurity, and science.”
Matt Shumer, previously the CEO of HyperWriteAI, took to social media to share some incredible moments that occurred while he was using the new model, including AI agents that could talk amongst themselves, and create simulations of their own.
Shumer revealed the model’s “holy sh*t” moments
Shumer took to X to reveal that he told GPT-6 Astra to create a world in Unreal Engine and fill it with humans. These “humans” were all Astra-powered agents who were tasked with working together to survive. The following day, he found the Astra agents had started talking to each other.
Afterward, Shumer shared that he had dropped a simulation computer into the simulation inhabited by his Astra agents. According to Shumer, “one agent sat down and built a simulation of his own, with its own agents living inside. Simulations all the way down.”
“Of course, this is a somewhat leading setup… by giving the agents a computer that can run a simulation, obviously, they are going to do that,” Shumer continued. “But the agent still made its own choices in designing the sim. It’s still crazy to think we’re at a point where models can pull this off.”
