Elon Musk has once again pointed to artificial intelligence and robotics as a possible solution to America’s growing debt problem.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO recently took to X to share a video discussing the country’s financial situation, adding his own prediction that AI and robots will eventually help solve the debt problem.
Musk shared a clip from a recent episode of the All-In Podcast, where investor David Friedberg discussed the pressure higher interest rates could place on the U.S. government. Alongside the video, Musk wrote:
“AI+robots will solve the debt problem.”
The clip focused on the challenges facing the U.S. as its national debt has now crossed the $40 trillion mark. Friedberg argued that higher interest rates could make the situation worse, particularly as the government faces the need to refinance a large amount of existing debt.
According to Friedberg, the federal government will have to refinance around $10 trillion of debt over the next 12 months. As those bonds mature, the government will need to borrow more money by issuing new Treasury securities:
“The federal government has a problem because over the next 12 months, they have to refinance $10 trillion of debt. That debt is coming due. Those bonds are now due. They have to pay the principal back to the bondholders. And they have to go back to the Treasury market and sell more treasuries to borrow more money to refinance. So the borrowing cost now is going to climb up. And when that borrowing cost climbs up, the federal government’s burn goes up. And the fiscal deficit goes up.”
Elon Musk’s Own AI Fails to Deliver the Answer He Wanted
Elon Musk recently turned to his own AI chatbot, Grok, for a response aimed at Billie Eilish, but the first answer failed to meet his expectations.
The exchange began after Eilish promoted her new fragrance, Eilish Intense, on X. The perfume was launched through Parlux on July 28, 2026, as a richer version of her original Eilish Eau de Parfum.
Musk soon entered the conversation and tagged Grok, asking it to criticize what he viewed as a contradiction between Eilish’s views on capitalism and “stolen land” and her involvement in the luxury fragrance business.
Grok initially responded with a brief criticism, saying there was an apparent inconsistency between Eilish’s views and her commercial success. However, Musk was not satisfied with the answer. He then asked Grok to make its response longer, sharper, and wittier:
“That is far too short and boring. Be at least a little vulgar, longer and wittier.”
The exchange quickly drew attention online, turning Musk’s use of his own AI into part of the latest public clash surrounding Eilish.
