On August 23, 2026, One Piece officially announced Film God Valley for a 2027 release. At the same time, One Piece also confirmed “Film BAAD” for a 2029 release. As things stand, the official release date of One Piece Film ‘God Valley’ and the production staff have not been revealed, but more information is set to follow soon, potential on One Piece’s New York Comic Con panel and Jump Festa 2027, which is set to be held in December 2026.
One Piece Day 26 Officially Confirm God Valley Movie For 2027 Release
August 23rd, 2026, has proven to be a monumental day for the One Piece franchise. Not only did the franchise reveal the result for its 2nd global popularity poll, but at the same time, it announced two full-fledged movies in God Valley and Film Baad for 2027 and 2029, respectively. The God Valley movie is going to be a sequel to the One Piece anime, which is currently still adapting the first half of the Elbaf arc. As the One Piece anime wraps up its run of 26 episodes in September 2026, it is set to resume next year, tackling the Loki flashback, which all of us have been eagerly waiting for. The most anticipated part of the Loki flashback is the God Valley Incident, which throws the focus on Rocks D. Xebec, a legendary pirate from before the era of Roger. Now, we have official confirmation from Shueisha and Toei Animation that the God Valley Incident is going to be adapted into a movie.
In the manga, the God Valley Incident begins with chapter 1159, which largely focuses on the buildup to this incident and marks its beginning at the very end. This chapter was released on September 8, 2025, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, Issue #41. The God Valley Incident ran for a total of 8 chapters and officially concluded with the release of One Piece chapter 1166, which was released on November 24, 2025, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #52. With 8 chapters’ worth of content, the movie is going to be focused on action from the beginning to the end, and that is something that we are eagerly waiting for.
The official YouTube channel for One Piece also released a small teaser for One Piece Film ‘God Valley’, but as things stand, it does not feature any animated content. This suggests that the movie is still in very early stages of production and actual work on it has not begun yet. That said, with a year of production time at the very least, the God Valley movie is certainly in very capable hands.
God Valley Is The First One Piece Canon Movie
The One Piece franchise isn’t known to do canon movies. Usually, Eiichiro Oda tackles the canon story in the manga, and it is then followed by a television anime adaptation. However, the release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and the massive success that came with it has caused a major shift in the anime industry. Now, the vast majority of the big hitters are aiming for canon anime releases. Chainsaw Man saw its Reze Arc adapted into a movie in 2025, and it was a massive success worldwide. Similarly, Solo Leveling is continuing its canon story through a movie titled “Beyond The System,” which is also set for a possible 2027 release.
Now, One Piece has announced that it is going to continue its canon story in the anime form with a movie, which is set for a 2027 release as well. Given that this movie is for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the One Piece anime series, which began its run in 1999, it is set to be a monumental release.
We absolutely cannot wait for One Piece Film BAAD, but first and foremost, we are incredibly excited for the God Valley movie. It will bring the character of Rocks D.
