Donald Trump seemingly calls out progressive streamer Hasan Piker over his controversial past 9/11 comments.

President Donald Trump used a campaign stop in South Carolina this week to attack streamer Hasan Piker, calling him a “communist fanatic who says that America deserved 9/11” and tying him to Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed as part of a broader assault on his Democratic rivals.
Trump made the remarks on Friday, August 21, 2026, at a rally in Myrtle Beach held to boost Senator Darline Graham, who is seeking the Senate seat once held by her late brother, Lindsey Graham.
While speaking to the crowd, Trump turned his attention to El-Sayed, the 41-year-old doctor who won Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary on August 4 and will face Republican former congressman Mike Rogers in the November midterms.
Trump claimed El-Sayed’s mother had once worked for a group that funneled money to Osama bin Laden, then pivoted to Piker:
“He recently campaigned with a communist fanatic who says that America deserved 9/11. We deserved it, right? We deserved all that death, destruction.”
The line drew on a controversy that has trailed El-Sayed’s campaign for months. Piker, who campaigned for El-Sayed earlier this year, said during a 2019 livestream that the U.S. had brought the September 11 attacks on itself, while reacting to Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw’s appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast:
“This guy has the understanding of foreign policy of like a 12-year-old, what the f***. What the f*** is wrong with this dude? Didn’t he go to war and, like, literally lose his eye because of some soldier that f***** his eyeball with his d***?… America deserved 9/11, dude. F*** it, I’m going to say it.”
That old remark resurfaced hard after El-Sayed’s primary win. Rogers put out a statement claiming El-Sayed himself “believes America deserved 9/11,” and similar claims spread widely on social media in the days that followed. But there is no proof that El-Sayed ever made that statement.

Hasan Piker Reacts to Donald Trump’s Jab at Him
Clips from Trump’s rally quickly began circulating across social media after the president referenced Piker while discussing Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
It did not take long for the clips to reach Piker. Rather than responding with a lengthy statement, the streamer appeared to take the moment lightly:
“omg first Trump mention.”
The exchange adds another chapter to the growing political attention surrounding Piker.
