A TikToker has revealed that Olivia Rodrigo helped pay for her final semester of college after learning she was struggling to afford tuition.
The creator, Jamie, shared the story while reflecting on her time on TikTok, explaining that she had kept Rodrigo’s gesture private because she did not want the moment to become a “public spectacle.”
She said the interaction began after Rodrigo commented on one of her birthday videos and wished her a happy birthday. Later, Jamie posted another video discussing her experience as a first-generation college student struggling to pay for her final semester.
Olivia Rodrigo offered to help TikToker graduate
Jamie stressed that she had not posted the video asking viewers to cover her tuition, saying she was simply being open about what she was going through.
“I wasn’t asking people to pay for it. I wasn’t asking for pity. I was just being honest,” she explained.
According to Jamie, Rodrigo then contacted her privately after seeing the video and offered to help with the cost.
“Olivia reached out to me privately. She told me she loved my videos, and I was a source of positivity and light for her,” Jamie said. “And she wanted to help me graduate. And she did.”
A screenshot shared by Jamie appears to show a message from Rodrigo asking whether she would be open to receiving help.
“I watched ur last vid about tuition, and I’d love to help out if you were at all open to that?” the message reads. “So cool that you are so close to graduating! Do you have a Venmo I could send to?”
Jamie responded by giving Rodrigo her Venmo information, while telling the singer that her music had been a “source of strength” for her.
Reflecting on the gesture, Jamie thanked Rodrigo for choosing to help someone she did not personally know.
“Olivia, I don’t know if you’ll ever understand how much that means to me,” she said. “You made me feel like I belong on this platform. You didn’t owe me anything. You just chose to show kindness to a stranger.”
Jamie also thanked several other creators and celebrities who had shown her support during her time on TikTok, including Allison Kuch, Mama Tot, West Wilson and Paris Hilton.
She said she ultimately decided to share Rodrigo’s gesture as she closed the chapter on that period of her life, using the story as an example of how even small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.
“I’m leaving grateful. Grateful for the memories, the people, the moments,” she said. “I’ll never forget it. This place felt like home for a little while.”
