Because of the way this promotion works, Steam users should be sure to hop onto this giveaway ASAP to improve their chances of getting a proper game key.
This new game promotion is through Lenovo’s Legion Gaming Community, which doesn’t give away free games as often as Steam’s Free-to-Keep promotion, but the games it does offer tend to be of high quality. The way it works is pretty simple: at the designated release time (listed below), members of its community (registration is easy) join a queue, proceed through it, and get to download a free Steam key for their patience. Of course, when LGC is out, it’s out, so those looking for a new free game on Steam to play should be quick and online at the right time.
LGC’s Free Walking Dead Steam Key Giveaway
PC users will be able to claim a free Steam key and download Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Season 1 on August 19 at 9 am PT/12 pm ET thanks to this new giveaway from LGC. It bears repeating that Steam key supplies are limited and thus given away on a first-come, first-served basis. The good news is that it’s so old that many users no doubt already own the game, but anyone who hasn’t is sure in for a treat. The Walking Dead is heralded as one of the best choice-driven narrative games in the industry (as well as Telltale’s catalog), thanks to its successful adaptation of the IP and introduction of strong, beloved characters like Clementine and Lee Everett.

While claiming this game for free is easy enough, there are a couple of steps involved:=
- Make an account on the Legion Gaming Community (or sign in)
- Navigate to the Key Drops Page shortly before August 19 at 9 am PT/12 pm ET and Queue Up
- Once through the queue, users will have 10 minutes to claim the key.

A Linked Steam account is required and could/should be linked before joining the queue.
- The linked Steam account must have spent at least $5 on games before.
- Sign in to Gamesplanet, Legion’s partner, and click Claim on the Key Voucher to redeem it.
- After redeeming the Key Voucher, users will receive a Steam Key for The Walking Dead.
Soon thereafter, Steam users will be able to start the game, where they step into the shoes of convicted criminal Lee Everett, who is on his way to prison. The breakout begins beforehand, however, and he soon finds himself (based on input from the player) making incredibly tough decisions in Telltale’s The Walking Dead. A chief theme throughout them is the protection of a young girl, Clementine, as they seek her parents in Savannah, Georgia.
LGC will also host a giveaway for Before Your Eyes on September 2.
It’s uncertain how many Steam keys LGC will have on hand, but for such an exceptional 10/10 narrative game, they are most likely to go fast.
