Black Clover is an incredible shonen magical story by Yuki Tabata that made its grand return on May 1, 2026, to finally conclude its long run of 11 years of serialization. Tabata’s story has always been heavy on magic, establishing powerful Wizards at the center of it all. Since the very first chapter of the story, the Wizard King was showcased as the absolute strongest of the Clover Kingdom. During the run of Black Clover, the official Wizard King was Julius, who stood as the 28th King, and he was finally followed by Asta, who earned the spot of the 29th Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom in chapter 391 after defeating Yuno in battle.
While only one individual at a time can hold the title of Wizard King, there are still characters who are in the same league as them. In the newest guidebook of Black Clover, which was released officially on August 4, 2026, Yuki Tabata officially confirms a new Wizard King-Level character in the same league as Julius, and that character is Noelle Silva, the main heroine of Black Clover.
Yuki Tabata Reveals Noelle As New Wizard King Level Character
Black Clover made its debut with its first chapter on February 16, 2015, in Weekly Shonen Jump issue #12. In this first chapter, Asta and Yuno revealed their ultimate goals, which were to someday earn themselves the title of Wizard King. Since the very beginning, it was quite clear that the Wizard King was the strongest wizard knight, who led the Magic Knight Squads as the ultimate leader of the country, holding similar power to the King himself in military authority. To become the Wizard King, one must be incredibly powerful and show their overpowered might in combat.
In Black Clover Chapter 1, we were introduced to the 28th Wizard King — Julius Novachrono, who reigned supreme with his soul and time magic. However, it was eventually revealed that Julius was actually the main antagonist, being possessed by a second soul known as Lucius. Together, the main characters of the story, notably Yuno and Asta, were able to finally defeat him. Following his defeat, we got to see Asta rise to the position of the new Wizard King in chapter Black Clover 391, after defeating Yuno in a 1vs1 battle. As such, Asta has cemented himself as the 29th Wizard King, and his power is practically unrivalled in the whole Clover Kingdom.
However, while Asta holds the official title, there are other characters worthy of mentioning that are also worthy of holding the title of Wizard King for themselves. For example, Yuno is a Wizard King-level character, despite being weaker than Asta and losing to him. In terms of power, he is the closest to Asta and undoubtedly the second strongest in the whole Kingdom after him, with his overpowered Wind and Star magic and his lucky Four Clover Grimoire.
On August 4, 2026, in the new Black Clover guidebook, Yuki Tabata revealed a new character that he explicitly stated to be Wizard King level, and that character is none other than Noelle Silva. Noelle Silva is the main heroine of our story, and she was first introduced in Black Clover Chapter 4. Back then, Noelle struggled to control her Water Magic, but eventually, as the story progressed, she became one of the most talented and prodigious characters in the entirety of the Clover Kingdom.
By the end of Black Clover, Noelle had become a force to be reckoned with, and even though she wasn’t one of the main fighters in the Lucius battle, she was still pivotal in his downfall. While Noelle might not be as strong as Asta and Yuno, she is still on the level of a Wizard King. Notably, Yuki Tabata has stated that she is in the same ranks as Julius. If neither Asta nor Yuno were around, she would undoubtedly be the most qualified character around to take on the title of Wizard King.
How Noelle’s Connection to Lemiel Silvamillion Makes Her a Powerhouse
We were definitely surprised to see Yuki Tabata explicitly state that Noelle is a Wizard King-level character in the new guidebook. However, not only did Yuki Tabata state she held this level of strength, but he also provided a reason for how she is on the same level as Julius. In a big part, it comes down to her connection to the first Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom, known as Lemiel Silvamillion Clover. Lemiel Silvamillion Clover was first revealed in Black Clover Chapter 1, and he is the predecessor of many of the Nobles of the Black Clover Kingdom, notably the Silva and the Vermillion families.
Noelle, inheriting Silvamillion blood, also inherited his great power and affinity, just like her mother before her. Yuki Tabata specifically states that she has the same affinity as him, putting her in the same league as Julius. Overall, this confirms her as one of the characters with the greatest reserves of mana in the whole story, especially with Julius now dead after the conclusion of his fight.
It must also be noted that, technically, Noelle has already showcased her prodigious Wizard King-level strength. Previously, in the Black Clover movie, titled “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King,” Noelle was able to fight and defeat the revived 20th Wizard King, Edward Avalaché. She doesn’t fight him alone and has help from other Black Bull members, but she leads the fight and deals the biggest blows.
Noelle’s Future In Black Clover And Her Current Power Level
Ever since Noelle’s introduction in Black Clover Chapter 4, she has played a massive role in the story and acted as a major component in the majority of the story arcs of the series. However, with the story having concluded in Black Clover Chapter 392, Noelle got the short end of the stick in terms of character conclusion. The biggest part of Noelle’s ending that fans got to see was her reconnecting with the Silva family after their complicated history. Noelle’s love for Asta was, sadly, a plot point that was never resolved, not even in the new 15-page-long chapter that was released in the new guidebook on August 4.
Based on everything we have seen in Black Clover, Noelle is simply a Black Bulls member at the moment. Even after Yami’s retirement, she has not ascended to the rank of Captain, with that new title instead being inherited by Nacht, even though she surpasses him in every way. With the story completely over and the guidebook already out, it’s unlikely that we will see more concerning Noelle. However, it must be mentioned that the guidebook actually somewhat nerfed Noelle as well, to make things worse.
It was officially confirmed in the new guidebook that, after the Final War, the Sea God Leviathan left Noelle. However, it was also stated that, if need be, the Leviathan would return to help her, meaning that in an all-out battle, Noelle would still have this power as a Wizard King-level worthy combatant.
All the chapters of Black Clover by Yuki Tabata are available to read via Manga Plus and Viz Media.
