Amidst the defeat of the Republican Party in the recent midterm elections, rumors and speculation are circling around Marco Rubio. He is the current U.S. Secretary of State and President Donald Trump’s national security adviser. According to reports from The Independent, Rubio is reportedly planning to resign from his jobs to create distance and launch bid right before the 2028 presidential race. Political commentator Mehdi Hasan reacted to the claim and described it as absurd.

Resigning does not undo a war record, he argued, and he named Rubio among the conflict’s key architects and proponents. Hasan claimed that Rubio has played a crucial role in the ongoing conflict with Iran and must be held accountable for his actions. However, Rubio came forward and clarified he has no plans to leave President Trump’s administration.

He laughed off the reports in an interview in his White House office. Ultimately, Marco Rubio decided not to engage on any question about 2028 and beyond and clarified that he is not going to leave his jobs as the Secretary of State and the president’s national security adviser.
