17-year-old beauty influencer Sofia Murillo has reportedly died in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro. According to CNN Brasil, Murillo, her 37-year-old mother, Wendy Manrique, her 59-year-old grandmother, Rocio Cubillos, and the pilot all lost their lives in the four-seater helicopter crash. It is also reported that the crash occurred on August 8, 2026, in a wooded area near Vista Chinesa. First responders quickly arrived at the scene, but the impact of the accident caused a fire that spread across the site.
G1 reports suggest that Murillo’s uncle, Victor Manrique, claimed that the family had planned to travel to Brazil for a vacation. Reportedly, Murillo, Wendy, and Cubillos boarded the first flight at 11 a.m., while the other three family members decided to take the second flight. Reports by G1 further indicate that Victor claimed the group had booked a scenic flight to see the Christ the Redeemer statue. According to People, the other family members learned about the accident while at the airport.
