Xbox Game Pass users appear to be seeing much cheaper subscription prices, with some being offered major discounts on Ultimate for an entire year.
For those subscribed, Game Pass gives you access to a rotating library of games across Xbox consoles, PC, and supported cloud gaming devices thanks to various tiers, allowing for better access at a higher price. For example, Ultimate offers a large library alongside day-one releases, online multiplayer, EA Play, Fortnite Crew, Ubisoft+ Classics, and cloud gaming.
However, Xbox users have now started reporting annual Ultimate offers that are not available to everyone. In some cases, subscribers are being offered discounts of more than $6 per month for 12 months.
Xbox users report different Game Pass Ultimate offers
Shared on the XboxGamePass Reddit, one US user revealed that they were offered an annual Game Pass Ultimate subscription for $16.09 per month. That is $6.90 cheaper than the regular $22.99 monthly price, saving them $82.80 across the full year.
“Been looking for an annual subscription for years, $16.09 a month for 1 year Ultimate,” they wrote. “I’ll take it.”
Other users reported receiving similar offers, although the price does not appear to be the same for everyone. One person claimed their secondary Xbox account was offered Ultimate for around $18 per month, while another said they had seen a $20 monthly offer covering 12 months.
That has led some fans to suggest Xbox could be testing dynamic or personalized pricing, offering different discounts depending on the account.
“I’m surprised it took them this long to start offering yearly cheaper subscription options,” one user wrote. “It’s a very popular option for most places for a reason.”
“Was it just a pop-up, or how did you come across this offer?” another asked. The original poster explained: “I was debating getting Game Pass again and got this message when I went into Game Pass.”
The new dynamic pricing for Xbox follows a similar experiment on PlayStation. It’s no secret that Sony often shows selected PlayStation Store users different discounts for the same games.
Xbox has not confirmed that it is introducing dynamic pricing for Game Pass. Microsoft also states that promotional offers may be limited to new subscribers, selected regions, or particular accounts.
For now, the discounted annual subscriptions only appear to be reaching select users. There is currently no widely available annual Ultimate option listed on the main Game Pass page, meaning subscribers will need to check their accounts to see if they have received an offer.
