Wendy’s launches gigantic MEGA burger with 7 patties and it’s 2,614 calories

Wendy’s Japan has introduced a seven-patty MEGA Wendy’s burger packing 2,614 calories, and customers are discovering the towering creation actually holds up outside the promotional photos.

Fast food chains have spent years seeing how much meat they can squeeze between two buns. Japan has already given us a six-patty burger that replaces the bread with even more beef, but Wendy’s has decided there’s room for another floor.

The chain’s Japanese operation, Wendy’s First Kitchen, has unveiled the MEGA Wendy’s, a burger that turns its standard triple into a seven-patty stack.

According to the official announcement, the recipe adds four beef patties and four slices of cheese to Dave’s Triple, essentially making it a Dave’s Septuple. The result clocks in at 2,614 calories before you even consider fries or a drink.

MEGA Wendy’s burger costs over $20

The burger alone costs ¥3,670 ($23,25 USD), with a medium fries and drink set bringing the total to ¥4,150. Apparently, seven patties still leave room for the question of whether you want to make it a meal.

On Reddit, a comparison between the promotional image and a screenshot from a customer’s video prompted surprise at how closely the real burger matched the advertising.

“Honestly it looks…fine. It actually lives up to the ad,” one commenter wrote.

Others were more concerned with how anyone was supposed to eat it. The person who shared the comparison linked to a video showing the burger being tackled with a fork.

“This looks like a joke product you would see in an ad in Grand Theft Auto,” another commenter said.

US customers could technically build a similar seven-patty burger through customization. Starting with a Dave’s Triple and requesting four extra patties and additional cheese would follow the same basic approach, although availability and pricing depend on the location. Wendy’s customer care previously told Daily Meal that individual restaurants decide whether to accommodate extra patty requests.

There’s already precedent for going even bigger. A Wendy’s customer previously ordered the nine-patty T-Rex burger, only to give up after a few bites.

More recently, an Oklahoma restaurant brought the T-Rex back as an eating challenge, offering customers a mystery prize for finishing it within nine minutes. By comparison, Japan’s seven-patty version almost sounds restrained. Almost.
