Social media users react to a viral clip of Korean Kick streamer Taemin dealing with American tipping culture.

A clip of Korean Kick streamer Taemin recently went viral after he appeared flabbergasted by American tipping culture. In the clip, the cashier asks him to answer a few questions shown on the screen, which displays several tipping options ranging from $2 to $4, alongside a no-tip option. Taemin then points at something behind the cashier as a distraction, quickly tapping the no-tip option instead.
This clip resurfaced on platforms including X and Reddit. Social media users shared their reactions to the Korean streamer’s encounter with American tipping culture. They wrote:
“I’ll never forget when I went to a concert and went to go buy a band shirt and the checkout had a tip option. Like thanks for bending down and picking that overpriced cotton out of the box for me,” stated SleepyxCapybara on Reddit.
“Tipping before getting the thing you paid for makes no sense. You tip and later you receive some garbage drink/food, what then? If you don’t pre-tip, then they’ll spit in your drink or what lol,” commented Reddit user namir01.
“Are you guys genuinely tipping at coffee places?! I can understand sit down restaurants but places like this or fast food definitely not,” wrote user PsycommuSystem on Reddit.
“Easy, if I order at the cashier and pick up the meal myself. It’s 0%,” said Reddit user Throwaway20211119.
Conservative Korean Influencer Reacts to Streamer Taemin’s Viral Clip

Fellow Korean influencer Kangmin Lee reacted to Kick influencer Taemin’s viral clip. He criticized American tipping culture, calling it “another tax.” Alleging that service quality has declined, he spoke about how tips are meant to “reward great service.” On X, he wrote:
“Tips used to reward great service. Now the service is often terrible, and they still demand 18%+. Tipping in America has essentially morphed into another tax, and it’s out of control.”
