TikToker breaks North American record after growing massive 170-pound zucchini

TikTok’s Pumpkinista has officially broken a North American record after growing an enormous 170-pound marrow, better known to many Americans as a zucchini.

Maine giant vegetable grower Sarah Whitty has built an online following by documenting the progress of her oversized produce, including pumpkins, tomatoes, gourds, and marrows.

She has been growing giant vegetables for more than a decade, with some of her pumpkins surpassing 1,400 pounds.

Her followers have become particularly invested in the vegetables she names and tracks throughout the growing season. In 2026, that included a massive marrow named Secretariat, which ultimately made history at the scales.

Pumpkinista’s ‘Secretariat’ weighs in at 170 pounds

On October 1, Pumpkinista revealed that Secretariat had officially weighed in at 170 pounds, setting a new North American record for a giant marrow.

“Secretariat is the new North American record marrow (zucchini)!!!” she wrote alongside footage of the weigh-off.

The video showed Whitty standing alongside the enormous dark green vegetable as the official weight of 170 pounds was displayed. The board in the clip also featured the New Hampshire Giant Pumpkin Growers Association logo.

The achievement quickly went viral on TikTok. Within roughly 13 hours, the video had amassed more than 254,000 likes, nearly 6,000 comments, and over 14,000 shares.

Viewers celebrated the record after following Secretariat’s progress online, with one writing: “I just screamed to my husband ‘OMG SHE GOT THE RECORD, SHE DID IT!!’”

Another said: “This is EXACTLY the news I needed to wake up to,” while a third added: “Yessssss this zucchini had me stressed.”

Other fans are already looking ahead to Whitty’s remaining vegetables, including giant pumpkins named War Admiral and Seabiscuit that are still awaiting their own weigh-ins.

Whitty is no stranger to growing record-breaking produce. In 2023, she set a Maine state record with a 60.5-pound marrow, while her work has also earned recognition within the competitive giant vegetable growing community.

The creator serves as president of the Maine Pumpkin Growers Organization and shares educational content about growing giant vegetables alongside updates on her own crops. Her Pumpkinista YouTube channel has also grown to more than 130,000 subscribers.

With Secretariat now officially weighing 170 pounds, Whitty has added a North American record to a growing list of giant vegetable achievements.
