US Senator Bernie Sanders shared his thoughts on the recent news regarding Elon Musk reportedly spending $366 million to support Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections. In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Sanders made a statement calling out the SpaceX CEO for being one of the biggest financial supporters of Republicans.

“Elon Musk spent $290 million to elect Trump. It paid off.

Since his election, Musk got $696 billion richer & became the world’s 1st trillionaire.

But that’s not enough.

Now, Musk is spending $366 million to keep Republicans in control of Congress.

STOP MUSK. STOP OLIGARCHY,“ he said.

Sanders’s statement follows a report from The New York Times (via The Economic Times), revealing Elon Musk’s substantial financial contributions to Republican political campaigns ahead of the midterm elections. The result of the election will determine control of Congress.

Elon Musk Reportedly Spent $276 Million To Support Republicans in Midterm Elections

According to the report, Musk had spent $276 million on political activities since July. This included $158 million for a super PAC focused on Republican Senate candidates. The report described him as the largest single donor of the year.

Andrew Romeo, a spokesperson for America PAC, defended the investments in comments to The New York Times, saying they had helped Republicans communicate their message to voters.

“These robust investments have allowed the GOP apparatus to get its message out so Republicans can have a fighting chance to defy history,” Romeo said.
