Star Wars Jedi 3 is still one of the most anticipated upcoming games in the franchise, and Disney has offered some encouraging comments about the future of Cal Kestis. Respawn Entertainment has already delivered two successful single-player adventures with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, introducing a Jedi who has become an important part of the larger Star Wars universe. However, despite confirmation that Star Wars Jedi 3 is in development, there’s still plenty that remains unknown about the next chapter of Cal’s story.
It’s been more than three years since Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released, continuing Cal’s journey as he attempts to survive the Galactic Empire while dealing with betrayals and increasingly difficult decisions. The sequel expanded on nearly everything from Fallen Order, including its lightsaber combat, exploration, and Force abilities. Respawn has since confirmed plans to complete the trilogy, although Star Wars Jedi 3 has yet to receive a proper reveal, release date, or gameplay trailer. Fortunately, Disney has made it clear that Cal’s story isn’t finished.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Isn’t Cal Kestis’ Last Rodeo
Speaking with GameRant, a Disney representative confirmed that more stories involving Cal Kestis are planned, offering an encouraging update for those waiting on Star Wars Jedi 3. As the representative explained:
“Never say never. We’ve got his lightsaber in the park. We’ve got more Cal stories coming.”

While Disney didn’t specifically reveal anything new or major about Star Wars Jedi 3, the statement reinforces the company’s plans to continue using Cal Kestis beyond his existing appearances. EA previously confirmed that Respawn was developing the third and final entry in the Star Wars Jedi trilogy, describing it as the conclusion to Cal Kestis’s story. However, Disney’s reference to additional stories leaves open the possibility of further appearances in television, movies, or other gaming projects. Cal has already appeared outside the games through novels and comics, and his lightsaber is represented at Disney’s theme parks.
For now, Star Wars Jedi 3 remains without a confirmed release window, and Disney’s comments don’t mean a reveal is approaching. However, the company’s willingness to continue expanding Cal Kestis’ role in the Star Wars franchise is noteworthy, especially considering the character was introduced through a video game rather than a movie or television series. With Respawn preparing to conclude his trilogy, the bigger question may eventually become what happens to Cal after Star Wars Jedi 3, and whether his adventures continue beyond the games that made him popular in the first place.
Respawn Entertainment also has plenty on its plate beyond Star Wars Jedi 3, with the developer continuing to support Apex Legends through regular seasonal updates and new content. Interestingly, Respawn is also reportedly working with DICE on Star Wars Battlefront 3, following EA’s confirmation that the two studios are collaborating on an unannounced project. Although EA hasn’t confirmed that the project is another Battlefront game, multiple sources have identified it as the long-awaited sequel. Between Cal Kestis’ trilogy and a potential Battlefront game, Respawn looks set to remain a major part of EA’s future plans for Star Wars.
