A performer dressed as Spider-Man was forced to calm and entertain disgusted moviegoers after a nauseating smell cleared out a screening of Brand New Day.
Crowds poured into the corridors of the Plaza Bocagrande shopping center in Cartagena, Colombia, with footage showing some audience members covering their faces as they escaped the auditorium.
According to The Sun, the chaos reportedly began after someone unleashed an especially foul fart during the movie that was probably powerful enough to defeat all the Avengers in their prime.
The incident took place on August 2 at the Cine Colombia multiplex, with the smell becoming so unbearable that viewers abandoned their seats.
Mystery remains over Spider-Man screening fart
The identity of the suspected gas-passer remains unknown with not even Spider-Man being able to catch the smelly antagonist. There has also been speculation that someone may have deliberately set off a stink bomb as a prank, though neither explanation has been confirmed.
The Spider-Man screening was not officially canceled, but dozens of moviegoers reportedly chose to leave without finishing the film. No injuries were reported and the cinema’s other screenings continued as normal.
Social media users quickly branded the culprit the movie’s true “villain.”
“To ruin a whole cinema like that, only God knows what that person ate,” one person wrote.
“That man is a menace,” another chimed in, channeling his inner J. Jonah Jameson.
Someone else remarked, “There’s no respect anymore, but I don’t think anyone is so rotten as to evacuate an entire auditorium.”
It is not the first time flatulence has caused chaos in a crowded space. In 2023, Singapore Airlines refunded a couple $1,410 after they moved out of premium economy to escape a farting dog.
Colombian influencer Yeferson Cossio was also banned by Avianca after a chemical fart device allegedly burst during a flight.
Even astronauts are not safe, with the Artemis II crew previously warned that excessive flatulence could pose a fire hazard aboard the Orion spacecraft.
