Sony has announced a new collection of translucent DualSense controllers and matching PS5 console covers, bringing transparent designs back to PlayStation hardware.
Revealed on October 28, the new Prism Collection features three colors inspired by the transparent gaming accessories of the late 1990s.
The collection includes both controllers and console covers, allowing PS5 owners to customize their setups with matching accessories. Sony has also confirmed pricing, release dates, and pre-order details for the new designs.
Sony announces three translucent DualSense controllers
The Prism Collection introduces three transparent color options: Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray.
Each controller features a glossy translucent shell that offers a glimpse of the internal components, alongside a metallic finish on the middle section.
Sony says the designs were inspired by its team’s interest in bringing transparent hardware back to PlayStation while highlighting the craftsmanship behind its controllers and consoles.
“We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers. We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design,” said Leo Cardoso from Sony’s Color, Material, and Finish design team.
Satoshi Aoyagi, another member of the design team, explained how the transparent materials affect the appearance of each color.
“The high-gloss clear finish extends across the back of the controller, offering a look at the technology that powers the DualSense controller while maintaining a sleek, monochromatic look.”
“The metallic finish on the middle cover brings the contrasting surfaces together for a premium appearance that feels consistent with the PS5 generation.”
Sony describes Flare Orange as a vibrant orange with subtle rosy tones, Emerald Green as a deep hunter green, and Graphite Gray as a cool-toned storm gray.
Matching PS5 console covers will also be available in all three colors, featuring the same translucent finish as the controllers.
