PewDiePie recently stated that he would be ending his family vlogs to protect his three-year-old son’s privacy.
On September 22, 2026, YouTuber PewDiePie uploaded a video titled Thank You and Goodbye. In it, he documents his family life as they engage in several activities. PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, has been uploading vlogs like this for several months on his channel. However, toward the end of his recent video, he announced that he is ending the family vlogs. He cited his discomfort with fame and his three-year-old son Björn’s privacy as the reasons.
Felix revealed that his wife, Marzia, had been editing the videos. He also thanked fans for their overwhelmingly positive support, though he noted he had expected some negativity in the comments. The YouTuber said he will not stop making videos entirely, only the family vlog format. He said:
“Marzia has worked so hard on these videos. She’s edited every single one of them, and I think she really made them special as well. So thankful to her, and I’m so proud of her for everything that she does…. I feel like, usually, there’s one or two bad comments, but we literally just got outpouring support with these videos, and that’s just been so incredible. The reason we’re stopping is we didn’t wanna go on forever, but I also felt like with Björn growing up, it’s a good time to stop. I love making videos, and I’m gonna keep making videos obviously.”
PewDiePie revealed that he loves making videos. However, the Swedish YouTuber noted that he does not like the fame that comes with it. He said he hates being famous, since it limits his travel and requires him to stay mindful of being recognized. He also said he wants his three-year-old son, Björn, to make his own choices going forward, and that he deserves his privacy. The YouTuber said:
“I love sharing videos, and I love the community aspects of the back-and-forth, but I do not love being famous. I actually kind of hate it. I hate that I can’t go to certain places; I always kinda have to be mindful of other people, and staring, sneaking photos, following you around. And I feel like in Japan, I love it so much because I can sorta do whatever here. And I think for Björn, I want him to make his own choices. He deserves his own privacy. That’s why we felt like now is a good time to stop. Even though he’s so wonderful and we love sharing him with you guys.”
This is not the first time PewDiePie has made this announcement. Back in May 2026, he revealed that the family vlogs would come to an end in September.
When PewDiePie Announced He Would Be Ending the Family Vlogs
On May 23, 2026, PewDiePie uploaded a video titled Ending the Vlogs. It followed a similar format to his other family vlogs, documenting his life with his wife and son, Björn. This is the video where he first announced that he would stop featuring his son in the videos. At the 27:26 mark, he said:
“I have somewhat bad news. Me and Marzia announced on our blog post already that we have decided that we are going to end the vlogs in September. So I’m just giving you a heads up: there will be a couple more months. But then, we’re ending the vlogs. We started them before moving to Japan, almost four years ago… we thought we could share what it’s like to transition to this new country, and that was it – maybe one or two. But the outpouring love and support made us really wanna continue doing the vlogs.”
