Former Press Secretary Katie Zacharia shares her thoughts after she was fired from her position, thanking Donald Trump for the opportunity.

Donald Trump’s former press secretary, Katie Zacharia, was fired from her position. This took place after only five days in the role. Zacharia, a conservative commentator, faced backlash after assuming the position, as many criticized her after her first and only press briefing. Reporters also questioned her legal credentials, which remain unanswered as of writing.
On October 16, 2026, Katie broke her silence and took to social media to share her thoughts. Calling Donald Trump a “hardworking man,” she said she wishes more Americans appreciated the president. Stating that it was an honor to work for him, she wrote this on X:
“President Trump is a kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and hardworking man. I wish more Americans appreciated him. No one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to. It was an honor to work for him.”
On a previous occasion, Trump had hinted at Zacharia’s potential departure from her position. The president told the former press secretary to reconsider, suggesting that she needed to think it over.

CEO of The Young Turks Cenk Uygur reacted to news that Trump had fired Katie Zacharia from her position. He said Sean Hannity’s interview with the former press secretary surprised him. Hannity, a political commentator who works for Fox News, had called out Zacharia in an interview prior to her departure. Cenk expressed his belief that it wasn’t Trump who fired her, but rather “someone” who believed she wasn’t doing her job of carrying out the “propaganda.” He had this to say:
“I love that she said, ‘I’m so thankful to President Trump for giving me this job.’ I don’t know if she’s still thankful. She said it was unacceptable to not spend nights with her kids. Problem solved. So, now you get to spend nights with your kids, now that you’re fired. I thought Hannity going after her was interesting and strange, and so did everybody else… Somebody thought, ‘This person is not good enough to carry out,’ what I would say, ‘our propaganda.’ ‘She’s not up to the job of doing the propaganda right, and it’s gonna backfire on us. So Sean, go ahead and kneecap her.’ Because, I don’t think it was Trump.”
