Formula One Champion Nico Rosberg has said nothing but praise during his time driving the Tesla Cybertruck.

Nico Rosberg, the 2016 Formula One world champion, has been won over by Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system. In a post on LinkedIn on October 30, 2026, the champion has nothing but praise for the automated driving system. Testing around San Francisco was described by the former Mercedes driver as “life-changing.”
“I’ve been test-driving the Tesla Cybertruck with Full Self-Driving around San Francisco… and it’s been LIFE-CHANGING!
My scarcest resource currently is time. I’ve had back-to-back founder meetings across the city this week. And now, I was able to get some of that time back on the commute, which meant I arrived at every meeting fully focused instead of drained. By the evening, it actually felt like I’d won back half a working day!! I even had a mini date with my wife on the drive.
My whole racing career, I was the one in control behind the wheel. But I’m now fully willing to hand over control!!”
It’s crazy that 75% of new Teslas delivered in North America last quarter came with Full Self-Driving. Just three months earlier it was 55%!! People aren’t buying a car and adding the software anymore. They’re buying the software, and the car comes with it!
And Tesla isn’t even the one leading on fully driverless. Waymo is now running around 4,000 robotaxis across 15 US cities, doing about 500,000 paid rides every single week. Nobody in the driver’s seat. The safety data is also getting stronger. But honestly, I don’t think “better than humans” will ever be enough. The real target in my mind is zero.
We’re still at the very, very beginning of all of this. But every time I’m in San Fran for Rosberg Ventures meetings, it almost shocks me how normal it already feels.
The Cybertruck I’ve been test driving is still supervised, which means eyes on the road. But so many people take their first calls of the day from the car on the way to the office. With FSD, that commute becomes super valuable time!
In Europe, we’re still way behind on this tech. And we for sure need to move faster!!
So I’m curious: what’s the first piece of tech that totally changed your daily routine? And what did you do with the time it gave you back? Let me know in the comments…
PS: Sadly I haven’t tested the new flying Roadster yet.
The gain was counted by Rosberg in recovered working time rather than miles. Rosberg Ventures meetings had been packed back to back into his week. The commute, he wrote, was used to arrive at each one focused instead of drained. A short date with his wife was fitted into one of the drives. Half a working day, by his own estimate, was won back by the evening.

Formula One Racing Driver Nico Rosberg Shares His Experience With His Tesla Cybertruck

As a former professional racer, the champion had his eyes on the road and his hands on the wheel. However, modern technology allowed the champion to enjoy his commute and feel energized upon reaching his next destination. Aside from feeling safe on the road, Nico Rosberg was quite happy about not exerting as much effort during his time in San Francisco. To wrap up his post, the former professional racer shared that he has yet to get in the driver’s seat of the new flying car.
