Making money is one of the biggest challenges in Shift at Midnight. If you are hoping to get the True Ending, keeping an eye on your personal funds is just as important as spotting doppelgangers. The surgery is not cheap, and your daily commission alone won’t always be enough. Here are a few effective ways to earn extra money in Shift at Midnight.

Use the Lottery Wheel
Before every shift, take a quick walk around the shop and look for any coins on the floor. You can use them on the lottery wheel in the break room for a chance to win $10. You won’t get money every time, but there are a few other rewards too, including hats and extra tokens.
Complete Bonus Objectives
The manager will sometimes call you with a bonus challenge. These usually ask you to deal with a set number of rats or cockroaches before the timer runs out, and completing them earns you extra money. On my fourth shift, for example, I was offered $20 for getting rid of 20 rats.
You can pick the pests up and throw them outside, but that takes quite a bit of time. If you are struggling to complete the objective, shooting them with your gun also counts toward the challenge and is much faster.
Be Careful Before Shooting Customers
It can be tempting to shoot first when you are unsure about a customer, but that’s a mistake. Killing an innocent person comes with a hefty penalty.
Take a few extra seconds to check the customer’s N.E.T. profile and ask them questions. If you’re still not convinced they are a doppelganger, I’d rather let them walk out of the shop. You will have to survive an Entity hunt later, but that’s often the better outcome than losing your hard-earned money.
Keep Your Shop Rating High
Your shop rating also affects how much money you make. A higher rating means customers are more likely to spend more. I try to keep it at four stars or higher.
The easiest way to do that is by placing a few decorative items around the shop. You can easily buy them from the computer.
