Former NFL coach Mike Tomlin has spent 12 years building a huge, sprawling city in Minecraft and has released the first episode of a new YouTube series touring it.
Mike Tomlin is a former American football coach and NBC television analyst best known for coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL for 19 seasons.
On his new YouTube channel, Tomlin has released the first episode of a new series in which he’s sharing his huge Minecraft world that he spent 12 years making.
The world contains a huge waterfront city
In the episode, Tomlin revealed he got into the game through his children but continued playing long after they lost interest. He described it as a therapeutic escape from the stresses of coaching.
The world he built is comprised of a sprawling waterfront city, luxury apartments, a hotel and spa, a basement speakeasy, an aquarium-themed hotel, and a baseball stadium.
Tomlin said he wanted to begin with more concentrated urban living, but has since expanded out into single-family homes and suburban living areas. He plans to release more episodes that show off other “really cool” aspects of the world, including a soccer stadium.
A post on X predicts 2,000 hours of gameplay would be required to reach a world this size. According to the NY Post, Tomlin’s son, Mayce, said that his dad would take his gaming console without telling him so that he could continue to work on his community.
