Benjamin Satterley, known to wrestling fans as PAC and Neville, has died aged 40, All Elite Wrestling has confirmed.
The 40-year-old’s death was announced in the early hours of September 28, with All Elite Wrestling sharing condolences to his family and friends. Details about the cause of death are, as of writing, unknown.
“All Elite Wrestling is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac,” they said. “A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability.
“Pac signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and held multiple AEW Championships and competed in some of the most memorable matches in AEW history. Our condolences go out to Satterley’s family, friends, and fans.”
Satterley, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest British wrestlers of all time, had competed for AEW during their annual All Out show on September 26, taking on long-time rival Andrade El Idolo.
He lost that match but appeared later in the night during the main event between Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley.
The 40-year-old also competed for WWE under the name Neville, and Adrian Neville, as well as for New Japan Pro Wrestling, CMLL, Dragon Gate, PWG, and xWx. He was a multi-time championship winner across those promotions over the years, including a memorable reign as WWE’s NXT champion, and was a founding member of All Elite Wrestling in 2019.
Wrestling world pays tribute to PAC
Wrestlers and fans from across the globe have shared messages about the 40-year-old’s death.
“The greatest export from our country. Also the greatest human being. Honoured to have shared the ring with you so many times. You truly are such a hero to myself and many others,” AEW world champion Will Ospreay posted.
AEW owner Tony Khan said that Satterley “defined excellence” with his “unprecedented athleticism, professionalism, consistency.”
WWE’s Paul Heyman described the 40-year-old as “a tremendous talent and even finer human being.” Mike ‘The Miz’ Mizanin added: “Just a heartbreaking day. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of PAC.”
Satterley’s death comes two weeks after the death of fellow AEW star Andy Williams – known as The Butcher in the wrestling world.
The pair, who were close friends, had competed in a number of matches together, with the Brit paying tribute to him too. “You were an anomaly. Too good for this world,” he said of Williams.
A celebration of life had been held for Williams on September 27, where a number of fans and performers also learned the news of PAC’s death.
