After the results of the midterm elections, Vice President JD Vance shared a lengthy post on X on November 4, 2026. Democrats had taken the House and Senate the night before.

“The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.”

Before becoming vice president, Vance was a senator from Ohio. He also served in the Marine Corps and was deployed to Iraq. Party strategists also see him as a leading contender for the 2028 nomination.

Vice President JD Vance argued that turnout was not the problem. He said a pollster he respected had warned of a 13-point loss on the generic ballot. That pollster found that 2024 Trump voters were angry and ready to switch.

Vance pointed to Florida, where Republicans still outnumbered Democrats by nine points. The defectors, he said, named four priorities. They wanted the war ended, living costs tackled, America put first, and the Israel relationship changed.

The war with Iran dominated his explanation.

“The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night,”

Trump called that assessment “largely true” but said he would launch the war again. Vance also conceded that the party’s economic message wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. Other personalities, such as Tectone, point to too many broken promises and too little follow-through. Vance closed on a hopeful note, and he has hope for the country.
