Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacts to a resurfaced James Talarico clip, claiming that the Democratic nominee wants to “destroy the border.”
On October 23, 2026, Elon Musk shared his thoughts on James Talarico, the Democratic nominee in the 2026 U.S. Senate election in Texas. With the midterms approaching, a resurfaced video of Talarico talking about border control and bathroom bills during Donald Trump’s first presidency went viral.
The speech was made during his November 2018 swearing-in ceremony as a Texas state representative, where he says that border and bathroom policies are ‘dishonoring’ the state’s legacy. He said:
“The current political landscape is too small. For Texas. Far too small. Our politics are narrow-minded and short-sighted. With every border wall, with every bathroom bill, we degrade our reputation and we dishonor our legacy.”
Musk reacted to the resurfaced video, claiming Talarico wants to “destroy the border.” He wrote:
“Talarico wants to trans your kids and destroy the border.”
Elon Musk Responds to James Talarico Defending Transgender Rights
Another resurfaced clip of James Talarico went viral, this time showing him defending transgender rights. In 2021, the Democratic nominee spoke about God, saying “God is non-binary.” He said:
“God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is non-binary… Trans children are God’s children, made in God’s own image. There’s nothing wrong with them. Nothing at all. They are perfect. They are beautiful and they are sacred… To the trans kids watching at home, I just want to say, I love you and so do a lot of people in this room, and so do a lot of people around this big state. I know it may not seem like it tonight, but you are loved beyond measure.”
Musk once again responded to the clip, criticizing Talarico for his statement. He wrote:
“Talarico will vote to take away your kids and transition them.”
