Elon Musk reportedly gave another $76.8 million to his super PAC in the first two weeks of October.

The reported figure pushes his disclosed spending on the 2026 midterms past $445 million with 11 days to go before polls close on November 3, 2026.

According to federal filings posted on Thursday, the money went to America PAC, a group that Musk set up in 2024. Bloomberg reports that this contribution makes Musk one of the biggest donors to super PACs in US political history. Furthermore, Politico reported the October transfer at $76 million and his cycle total at more than $442 million.

On either count, Musk is the biggest single donor of the cycle. His federal giving is already well above the roughly $290 million he spent in 2024, and Politico reported that there is no precedent in modern American history for a donor spending as much.

Those figures cover money given to committees required to disclose their donors. Musk has also given to groups that do not identify their contributors, according to the New York Times, so the full extent of his political spending is not publicly known.

Where Is Elon Musk’s Reported $445 Million Donation for US Midterm Election Campaign Through His Super PAC Going?

Texas is the centre of the effort. Musk gave $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund over the summer, and the super PAC transferred matching amounts to a Texas PAC, a group backing Republican Ken Paxton against Democrat James Talarico.

According to Wired’s tally of the filings, America PAC has put $33.1 million into the Texas contest, including $15.3 million on advertising against Talarico and $3.5 million supporting Paxton.

Additionally, the reported filings show that the America PAC spent $76.7 million in the third quarter, $35.8 million of it on paid canvassing.

James Talarico Says “Something Deeply Wrong With a Political System”

On October 21, 2026, Elon Musk shared a rather cryptic post on X, stating that “there is something deeply wrong with Talarico.”

Talarico responded to Musk on the same day, writing:

“There is something deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator.”
