Pokemon’s $140 mystery TCG skateboards immediately sell out and resell for $1,000

Pokemon has teamed up with Santa Cruz Skateboards to release a collection of mystery skateboards inspired by its trading card game, but resellers are already listing them for more than double their original price.

The collection launched on October 17 to celebrate Pokemon’s 30th anniversary, featuring 30 different designs and three rare gold variants. Originally priced at $139.95 each, the decks have already appeared on resale sites for significantly more.

Much like opening a Pokemon TCG booster pack, buyers won’t know which skateboard they’ve received until they open its sealed packaging.

Each deck features artwork from a different Pokemon card, with designs spanning the trading card game’s history. These include classic cards featuring Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur, alongside newer favorites such as Umbreon.

There are also three gold variants featuring collages of multiple Pokemon cards. Each is limited to just 500 worldwide, making them the rarest designs in the collection.

The decks measure 8 inches wide and 31.6 inches long, although they’re sold without wheels or other hardware.

As has become commonplace with anything Pokemon-related, demand has attracted resellers and scalpers, with the skateboards already being sold on eBay at substantially inflated prices 24 hours after launch.

One unopened mystery deck was listed for $298.68, more than twice its original $139.95 retail price. The seller was also charging an additional $55.05 for shipping from Australia.

Some individual designs with lower odds of being found in the blind bags have already sold for considerably more, with one, featuring Rayquaza, having sold for $1,000.

The collection appears to have already sold out on the Santa Cruz website, as well as the official Pokemon Center store, although TPCi does say local stores have also received stock, so it may still be possible to find them at retail if you’re lucky.

This isn’t the first time Pokemon has collaborated with Santa Cruz. The two companies previously released a similar mystery skateboard collection in 2023.
