Twitch streamer QTCinderella responds to questions about The Streamer Awards becoming more and more inclusive.
QTCinderella took to social media to respond to concerns and questions about the Streamer Awards. The content creator replied to a post made by X user @Calxonie asking for Girls and Gays Streamer Awards. QTCinderella understood the user’s point and replied that it is much more complicated but assured them there are plans in the future to branch out.
“This is not an award show problem this is a twitch / streamer demographic problem. In the top 100 streamers of this year only 2 are women. I do not know everyone’s sexuality to tell you how many are gay but I fear it’s less. However this problem is quite literally why the sapphire award was created. This is the male to female ratio of the award show from every year. This year it’s 2.94. Of course the dream is 1:1 but since it’s fan voted even seeing progress like being under the 3:1 range feels like a win. Luckily there ARE award shows that do a great job at covering these categories. The Gameher awards and the Gayming Awards I believe are two popular ones. Someday if I have the bandwidth I would love to do a separate show that purely focuses on this. Maybe called the sapphire awards but sadly that is not near on my horizon. However for now I like to focus on the progress being made in the overall demographic of the show. We do have more women nominated than past years and we do have more queer people. That’s a [expletive] win in my book but there’s always room for more.”
According to QTCinderella, there are more female nominees this year. The progress might be slower than anticipated, but she views it as a big win.
