Republican nominee Mike Rogers and Democratic nominee El-Sayed are competing head-to-head for Michigan’s Senate seat in the upcoming election. Recently, Kennedy made his position on the election clear, claiming that El-Sayed sleeps in a “Bin Laden jersey.” Saying ‘AIPAC wouldn’t come here,’ he had this to say:
“Look, AIPAC wouldn’t be, they wouldn’t come here, if Dr. El-Sayed didn’t sleep in a Bin Laden Jersey. I’m just telling you.”
Mehdi Hasan shared his thoughts on Kennedy’s comments. Addressing the remarks as “racism and incitement,” the Zeteo chief said, “Michigan deserves better.” He also alleged that Mike Rogers chuckled during the comments. He wrote on X:
“Here is racist *** Republican & fake ‘man of the people’ @SenJohnKennedy saying today in Michigan that @AbdulElSayed goes to sleep in a ‘Bin Laden jersey’. The racism & incitement is off the charts. @MikeRogersForMI just chuckles. Michigan deserves better than a rebranded KKK.”
Abdul El-Sayed Responds to Donald Trump After His Mike Rogers Debate
Abdul El-Sayed and Mike Rogers recently faced off in their first televised debate ahead of the Senate election. After the debate, President Donald Trump voiced support for the Republican candidate, claiming he had “completely obliterated” El-Sayed. Referring to the Democratic nominee as “Mohammed,” Trump alleged that he hates America and wants to see the country fail. Calling Rogers a total winner, he had this to say on Truth Social:
“Mike Rogers, the great American Patriot and Republican Candidate for the U.S. Senate from Michigan, completely obliterated Mohammed El-Sayed in the big debate tonight. If this was a fight, they would have stopped it. Mohammed is a Jihadist lunatic who hates our Country, the Black People of Detroit, and wants to see the U.S. fail. Short on Stature, Patriotism, and Truth, Mohammed’s statements have been loaded up with lies and deceit. I won Michigan BIG, and know that Mike Rogers, a total winner, is the man for you!!! President DJT.”
El-Sayed responded to the president’s remarks. He said Rogers’ face resembled Trump’s when he lost the 2020 election. Questioning whether Rogers had called Trump and begged him to post this after the debate, El-Sayed called the two “stale, weak, pathetic.” He said this on X:
“I guess you didn’t see his face after the debate. He looked like you did when you lost the 2020 election, utterly defeated. Did he call you afterward and beg you to tweet this? Did he beg you to come save him in Michigan? You’re welcome to remind everyone how sad you both are together. Stale, weak, pathetic. I’ll be talking about gas, groceries, and healthcare. The things you broke—that we’ll have to fix.”
