Actor Dean Cain responds to New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s X post, claiming “there is no genocide in Gaza.”

On October 7, 2026, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani shared a long post on X to commemorate the lives lost due to the Israel-Palestine conflict. He acknowledged the 2023 attacks that killed several Israeli civilians while also addressing Israel’s attacks on the occupied territories. He wrote:
“It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.”
Mamdani also wrote about the ongoing attacks in Gaza. He said that more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed, including 21,000 children. The mayor also wrote about the blockage of food aid, the drone strikes on journalists, and the bombs dropped on ambulances. The DSA member said U.S. tax dollars are being used to fund the attacks. He said:
“The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.”
Actor Dean Cain responded to Mamdani’s tribute, denying the mayor’s description of the conflict as a genocide. While stating there is “no genocide in Gaza,” Cain argued that the October 7 attacks were the genocidal act instead. He wrote:
“There is no genocide in Gaza. But there WAS an attempted genocide on October 7. Disgusting.”
The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) has stated that it considers Israel’s actions in Gaza and the occupied territories to constitute genocide.
“Shame on You”: Nikki Haley Condemns Zohran Mamdani’s October 7 Post

Former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley recently shared her thoughts on Zohran Mamdani’s tribute. She accused the mayor of ‘trying to blow a kiss and slap Israelis in the face at the same time.’ She highlighted the October 7 attacks on Israelis and the treatment of the hostages. Haley accused Mamdani of antisemitism and said that if similar attacks happened on U.S. soil, “we would defend ourselves too.” On X, she wrote:
“Shame on you for trying to blow a kiss and slap Israelis in the face at the same time. On October 7, Hamas raped, burned, and murdered Israelis and Americans in front of their loved ones. They kidnapped others and tortured them for months. This is antisemitism, no matter how you try to put a bow on it. Israelis have every right to defend themselves. If this happened in the U.S., you can bet we would defend ourselves too.”
