Gojo Satoru stands as the strongest sorcerer in the modern era of Jujutsu Kaisen, and he is also the face of the entire franchise. Ever since his debut in the very first episode of the series, Gojo has become a worldwide sensation, which is why his sealing in the Shibuya Incident felt like a massive hit to fans of Jujutsu Kaisen all over the world.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 began its run in January 2026, but unfortunately, despite a few brief appearances from Gojo, he did not make a proper comeback. As things stand, Gojo remains sealed in the Prison Realm, but the next sequel of the anime, that is, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4, looks set to bring him back so the series can finally wrap up as it heads ever closer to reaching its climax.
Jujutsu Kaisen Sequel Anime Will Finally Bring Back Gojo Satoru After Season 3 Absence
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 marked the beginning of the Culling Game after the events of the Shibuya Incident, which led to the sealing of Gojo Satoru. The Culling Game was incredibly exciting, to say the least, and it introduced us to a plethora of exciting Ancient Sorcerers, as well as new sorcerers who gained exciting abilities. The pinnacle of the Culling Game was undoubtedly the Sendai Colony battle, which saw Yuta Okkotsu go all out against the other powerful Ancient Sorcerers. Now, all eyes are on Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4, the main goal of which will be to serve the return of Gojo Satoru.
“The people whom I had ingest cursed objects like Yuji Itadori and the people with cursed techniques whose brains were meant to be non-sorcerers like Junpei and Yoshina. I adjusted their brains for sorcery.” —Kenjaku sets up the Culling Game, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter #136
While Season 3 was incredibly exciting, to say the least, Gojo’s absence certainly did harm it in many ways. Every time Gojo is on the screen, the excitement shoots through the roof, and it benefits Jujutsu Kaisen greatly by increasing its overall popularity. This problem will unfortunately not be mended at the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4. However, by the end of it, the majority of the plot should be focused on his unsealing. We are confident that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4, set to release in 2027, will bring Gojo back to us. As such, it will also set up his most exciting battle of all as he prepares to take on Ryomen Sukuna.

Gojo’s Role In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4
The sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will be the continuation of the Culling Game, and unfortunately, for the vast majority of it, Gojo’s role will be limited. That said, Studio MAPPA and the staff working diligently on the next season know Gojo’s importance. As such, we will see him being woven into the plot through various flashbacks, just as he was in the third season. Given that the attention is going to be on characters such as Yuta Okkotsu, Yuji Itadori, and Megumi Fushiguro, we are bound to see a lot of Gojo through their memories throughout the season. As the next anime season of Jujutsu Kaisen heads close to its climax, Gojo’s role will most certainly grow. By the end of it, we will finally get to see his unsealing, which is sure to be a significant moment in the history of the series.
More than 1000 years ago, when Sorcery was at its prime, Sorcerers gave it their all trying to take him down. But, to no avail. He was given his name, and after his death, they weren’t able to destroy his waxed body, so it crossed into our world as a cursed object. He’s undoubtedly the King of Curses!” — Gojo explains Sukuna, JJK Chapter #3
Gojo Satoru’s unsealing will officially trigger the beginning of the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, and we will head into its most exciting arc, that is, the Shinjuku Showdown battle. Given that Jujutsu Kaisen’s next sequel anime is only going to be 12 episodes long, we can say with absolute certainty that Shinjuku Showdown will not be covered in this series.
That said, everything else building up to it will be covered, and by the end of it, we will have plenty of exciting moments pertaining to the character of Gojo Satoru. Given that Jujutsu Kaisen is now rapidly moving towards its end, there is only so much of Gojo that we can truly enjoy, making these last few moments that much more valuable.
Jump Festa 2027 To Give New Updates On Gojo’s Return in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4
Right now, information on Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4 is incredibly limited. While the most recent Jujufest, which was held on August 29, 2026, did give us our first key visual of the fourth season, we still don’t know when it will be released or what direction the series will take from here onward. We are eagerly waiting for Jump Festa 2027, which is set to be held in Japan on December 19 and December 20. Jujutsu Kaisen has already confirmed its own stage for Jump Festa, and it will be involved in the Super Stage Red event, where the biggest announcements will be held. In other words, Jujutsu Kaisen has some major events to announce at Jump Festa 2027, which include major information pertaining to the fourth season.
It is possible that Gojo Satoru will be teased at Jump Festa 2027, given that he will be far more involved in the next season of the anime. Fans can also expect to see the voice actor of the character present at the event, revealing some juicy bits about what to expect from him in the upcoming season. If we are lucky, then we may even see a major tease for a Jujutsu Kaisen movie happening at Jump Festa 2027. Fans all over the world want the final arc of the series, that is, Shinjuku Showdown, which will see the heavy involvement of the likes of Gojo, Sukuna, Yuji, and all the other major sorcerers, to be made into a movie. Demon Slayer recently did something similar with its Infinity Castle arc. Jujutsu Kaisen could split Shinjuku Showdown over two separate movies, and if that truly is the case, then we may get a confirmation of it at Jump Festa 2027.
All things considered, things are looking great for Gojo’s character heading into the next sequel anime of Jujutsu Kaisen. In the best-case scenario, he may even be headed to the big screen soon enough, as Shinjuku Showdown kicks off.
All the chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo are available to read via Manga Plus and Viz Media.
