The world’s first Minecraft rollercoaster and the first official Minecraft hotel are both coming to Chessington World of Adventures in 2027.
They’ll sit inside Minecraft World, a new £50 million ($66 million) land at the park in south-west London, developed by Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments.
Escape the Nether sends riders through lava
The rollercoaster, called Escape the Nether, puts riders in a minecart alongside Steve and Alex as they battle hostile mobs before launching back into the Overworld.
“Will you escape? And yes, there’s lava,” reads the official Minecraft World page.
The hotel is pitched as “the ultimate Minecraft sleepover,” with biome-themed rooms, an underwater-themed restaurant and mineshaft-style corridors guests have to navigate to find their rooms. “Beds included, no crafting table required,” the page adds.
According to TechEBlog, it’ll have 69 rooms across four floors, with the bar themed on the Woodland Mansion.
The wider land will also include areas based on the Overworld’s lush caves, mineshafts and plains, alongside mob meet-and-greets, play areas and themed shops.
Both were announced during Minecraft Live on September 26, with the land itself first revealed in March 2026. It’s being built on the site of the park’s former Wild Asia area.
No exact opening date has been confirmed yet, and room rates haven’t been revealed, though there is a waitlist open now.
It adds to a busy stretch for Minecraft, with the same Minecraft Live broadcast revealing the Sift, the game’s first new dimension in over 14 years.
