Nick Shirley, a conservative YouTuber and influencer, has claimed that authorities caught “California daycare fraudsters” and charged 12 individuals with $10 million in fraud.
On September 17, 2026, the content creator posted a one-minute-28-second video on X, with the following caption:
“BOOM 12 Learers caught and busted for fraud. These Learers in San Diego had been living life in luxury stealing our tax dollars while never actually teaching children to lear. All 12 individuals are not even from America and stole $10 million dollars. EXPOSE AND STOP IT ALL.”
In the video, Shirley discussed his March 2026 investigation into alleged daycare fraud in San Diego, California. He then fired shots at Gavin Newsom, remarking:
“Over 12 individuals were charged with daycare fraud for stealing over $10 million. In March, me and Amy from San Diego went and exposed all these daycares. Just so happened to be that these were a bunch of learers. I went ahead and exposed the learers because the learers have to be exposed. Well, the King Learer, Gavin Newsom, then posted this – the Governor, Gavin Newsom, posted this, trying to depict me as some sort of a PDF for trying to figure out where our tax dollars are going. But in reality, there were never any kids. That’s the whole point.”
Nick Shirley then claimed that Gavin Newsom’s odds of becoming the next Democratic presidential nominee for the 2028 elections had “gone down by nearly half,” citing a prediction market platform as his source:
“It really backfired because since Gavin Newsom has said that, his odds of becoming the next nominee have gone down by nearly half.”
Nick Shirley Claims 12 Individuals Who Were Reportedly Charged With Daycare Fraud in California Are Not Americans
The video continued as Nick Shirley showed the names of 12 individuals reportedly charged with daycare fraud in California. While claiming that none of the individuals were Americans, the YouTuber said:
“Here’s a list of all 12 individuals who were charged with daycare fraud, and notice something – not a single one of these people is American. Not because of the name, but because these people aren’t even from America. A lot of these people were refugees who then got on our tax dollars and enrolled in these programs to open up these ‘daycares.’ But in reality, there were never any kids.”
Additionally, Shirley claimed that one of the individuals charged with fraud allegedly bought a new Rolex watch and a new Mercedes car:
“Here is one of the learers driving in complete luxury with a new Rolex and a new Mercedes. So, yeah, enjoy your day. Keep working hard. Don’t be a learer.”
