Players will come across several choices while charting Coen’s adventure in The Blood of Dawnwalker, one of them being whether to destroy the Reliquary or collect Vrakhiri blood. This choice is part of Xanthe’s Recruiters quests that’ll pop up around the map, the first one being in the middle of Svartrau City. Here are both outcomes of the choice, so you can pick the best one that aligns with your playthrough.
How to Start Xanthe’s Recruiters: Taste of Power Quest in Blood of Dawnwalker
Before getting the choice, players will need to head to Svartrau City in Blood of Dawnwalker to start the Xanthe’s Recruiters: Taste of Power quest. You’ll see it on the map, right beside Svartrau City’s Medic vendor.
After arriving at the location, Coen will come across a bunch of Xanthe’s Blood guards recruiting common folk into Brencis’s army. After engaging in a conversation with them, you’ll need to select the dialog option, “I’d like to see just how strong the Vrakhiri blood makes you.”
This will start the combat encounter, and players will need to defeat the three Blood Guards at the location.
Should You Destroy the Reliquary or Collect Vrakhiri Blood?
Once the guards are defeated, interact with the golden chest under a small tent to receive the following choices.
- Destroy the Reliquary
- Collect Vrakhiri Blood
Regardless of what choice you decide to go with, it’ll consume three hours of your time.
Destroy the Reliquary
If your playstyle is centered around Coen’s human form, and you want to keep the corruption as low as possible, you’ll need to opt for destroying the Reliquary. This will end Xanthe’s Recruiters: Taste of Power quest in Blood of Dawnwalker, and Coen will receive some XP, gain a perk point, and raise infamy as rewards.
Collect Vrakhiri Blood
Collecting Vrakhiri blood is the best choice for players who’re leaning more towards Coen’s vampiric abilities and want to level up corruption and get a new skill. Going for this option will raise Coen’s infamy, grant him a perk point, and a legendary consumable called “Phial of Brencis’s Blood.”
What Does the “Phial of Brencis’s Blood” Do?
You’ll need to head into the inventory menu and consume the Phial to raise Coen’s corruption level by almost one level and unlock a new Vampirism skill called “Piercing Shriek” in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
You’ll be able to invest one skill point to gain the Piercing Shriek ability, which basically stuns all the enemies directly in front of Coen. It’s a great skill to use in combat when either facing hordes of enemies or a tough boss.
