Influencer and Kick streamer Natalie Reynolds claims the $25,000 costume worn in The Cat in the Hat is haunted by Mike Myers, despite the actor being very much alive.
Reynolds is known for her attention-grabbing online content and previously faced backlash after encouraging a woman to jump into a lake during a livestream.
Her latest stunt began after she won the Cat’s costume from the widely mocked 2003 movie in a Propstore auction. Reynolds initially said her winning bid was $20,000 before revealing she paid approximately $25,000 in total.
Propstore estimated the costume would sell for between $12,000 and $24,000. Its official auction listing recorded eight bids before it was sold on August 26.
Natalie Reynolds says previous owner gave her a warning
Before the costume arrived, Reynolds posted a video telling her followers that Myers’ “soul is apparently trapped inside of the costume.”
She also alleged that an unnamed previous owner warned her not to stare into the costume’s eyes. Reynolds did not identify that owner or provide evidence supporting the warning.
After receiving the costume, Reynolds placed it inside a large glass display case in her home. She subsequently described it as “one of the most haunted props in movie history.”
In another follow-up Reel, Reynolds filmed herself examining the costume at night and claimed she could see eyes behind its empty sockets. Several commenters instead suggested she was seeing part of the structure holding the costume’s head upright.
The biggest problem with the theory is that Mike Myers is still alive. The 63-year-old actor appeared publicly as recently as June 2026, when he confirmed plans for Austin Powers 4.
Reynolds’ videos are building on an existing internet conspiracy surrounding the costume. Its unsettling auction photos helped fuel a wave of AI-generated horror posts showing the Cat stalking neighborhoods, eventually forcing police to debunk the viral hoax.
Propstore’s listing makes no mention of paranormal activity. It does, however, note grime across the mask, matted synthetic fur and a Spandex suit labeled “Mike Myers #1,” all of which contribute to its deteriorated appearance.
