The GTA 6 Extended Look has revealed several new systems that could make the game’s world react more closely to the player’s actions. Among them is what appears to be a new criminal profile system that tracks how players behave as criminals.

While the system may look similar to the honor mechanics in Red Dead Redemption 2, it appears to have a different purpose. Instead of simply determining whether Jason or Lucia is good or bad, the system could track how they behave while committing crimes and potentially influence how the world responds to them.

How Does the GTA 6 Criminal Profile System Work?

The apparent criminal profile system seems to exist separately from GTA 6’s wanted system. The wanted system determines how actively the police are pursuing the player, while the criminal profile could track the player’s overall behaviour as a criminal. This would make it different from the honor system in Red Dead Redemption 2. In RDR2, Arthur Morgan’s actions can push his honor toward good or bad. GTA 6’s system, based on what has been shown so far, appears to be more focused on how you commit crimes rather than whether you are morally good or bad.

For example, repeatedly attacking NPCs without a reason could potentially contribute negatively to the player’s criminal profile. On the other hand, completing a robbery efficiently without creating unnecessary chaos could have a more positive effect. The Extended Look also appeared to show a positive indicator when Jason interacted with a dog. The icon resembled an angel with a halo, suggesting that smaller actions outside of criminal activities could also contribute to the system.

Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson has previously explained that there is no single correct way to play GTA 6. Instead, players’ consistent actions can influence how the world reacts to them and potentially affect the narrative. The system could therefore become another way for GTA 6 to make player behaviour matter. Rather than simply giving players a wanted level after committing a crime, Rockstar may be tracking patterns in their behaviour and using them to shape certain reactions throughout Leonida.
