“Extended Look Was Just Lucia Being a ‘Girl Boss’”: Internet Dissatisfied by GTA 6’s Gameplay

The GTA 6 extended look is live for the public, and clips from the Netflix premiere are going viral all over social media. However, not every fan is satisfied with the much-awaited extended look. Certain sections of the gaming community expressed their dissatisfaction with Lucia, the female protagonist, for getting so much screen time in the GTA 6 extended look.

Some even claimed that the trailer made Jason, the male protagonist, look like a “side chick” while Lucia was being a “girl boss.”

“The whole 26 minutes of the extended look was just Lucia being a ‘girl boss’ while Jason is going, ‘uUH… yeah. What are we doing now? Where we goin’? Thanks. Ok, thanks.’ They literally made the male protagonist a side chick with a Reece’s Pieces ass voice,” wrote X user @strugglebaddy in reply to a clip of Lucia reloading a shotgun with one hand.

@CultureCrave shared a short video of Lucia reloading a shotgun with one hand. The clip has garnered hundreds of thousands of impressions. As the first female protagonist in a GTA game, the inclusion of Lucia has been the point of contention for a section of the fans. The one-handed shotgun reload scene intensified the backlash:

“Can’t stand this bossgirl bullcrap. Genuinely wish it was optional to have to play as her. You can tell this was made during the height of wokeness,” wrote @TheNotorious0ne.

“Jason can’t do this, but Lúcia can. woke game,” said @SnyderCareca.

A few claimed it was a physically impossible thing to do:

“So like why doesn’t she get blown backwards by the recoil?” asked @manfold87068.

On the other hand, many GTA 6 fans were thrilled to get more gameplay and scenes with Lucia. Some even compared her shotgun reload to Sarah Connor and other video game characters:

“She could probably give Leon Kennedy a run for his money,” wrote @EclipseCannon21.

The 26-minute-long extended look showcased a variety of features for GTA 6. Despite the recent leaks, gameplay featuring Lucia and her relationship with Jason was one of the key highlights of the trailer. Reportedly, players can avoid their Bonnie-and-Clyde-type romance entirely if they want to. In an interview, Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson opened up about the topic.

While Lucia and Jason have certain romantic feelings for each other at the beginning, it is up to players to explore it. Nelson clarified that players can ignore the romance without affecting gameplay. The two protagonists will continue to be partners in crime regardless. As per the GTA 6 extended look, there are in-game ways to nurture their relationship and optional side missions that lead down a romantic path.
