Community comes to VTuber’s support after glitch exposes her face on stream

VTuber Komai Ume had a mishap during a recent broadcast when a technical glitch briefly exposed her real face to which the wider Vtubing community responded with warmth and support.

The veteran creator has streamed behind an animated avatar for the Varium agency for nearly four years. Following the incident, she took an unannounced day off before returning to address what happened directly with her audience.

Fans respond with reassurance rather than criticism

“I wasn’t able to sufficiently check the streaming setup, and as a result, an unintended issue occurred,” she wrote. “I am truly sorry.”

She promised to be more thorough with her equipment checks going forward, apologized for the unannounced absence, and thanked fans for their concern, adding that she hoped to keep having fun with her community.

Rather than reacting negatively, her community responded with encouragement. “Mistakes happen, people need to understand that things like this are bound to happen while being a VTuber, it’s a burden you’re willing to take,” one fan wrote on X. “But please don’t be sorry! You’re a normal human being, we all are human beings.”

Another echoed the sentiment. “Don’t worry, you don’t have to apologize. It was an accident. We all make mistakes. A lot of people support you. It’s not your fault. Don’t lose hope. You are a kind and good person.”
