Instagram influencer Amelia Chelsea Aguilera, known online as the “Queen of the North,” has been remanded in custody after a fresh arrest in Townsville, Australia, on charges including torture, kidnapping, and extortion.
Aguilera is a tattoo artist with nearly 70,000 Instagram followers. Her public account describes her as the owner of a tattoo business and host of an online show, while a recent Instagram post called her “Townsville’s most socially unacceptable influencer.”
The fresh charges were listed for the first time at Townsville Magistrates Court on Thursday, August 13, according to the Townsville Bulletin. Aguilera did not appear in person or by video link.
Amelia Aguilera will not seek bail
Aguilera’s lawyer, Darren Robinson of Salt Legal, told the court that she would not apply for bail on the new charges because she was already facing other serious legal proceedings.
“We were in court yesterday on other matters that are equally serious, Your Honour,” Robinson told the magistrate.
The defense asked for the fresh charges to be adjourned until the same date as Aguilera’s existing cases to “keep all matters neatly together.” Magistrate Jessica Keir granted the request and ordered prosecutors to provide a complete brief of evidence covering the charges.
No pleas have been entered in relation to the fresh allegations, and the Townsville Bulletin did not disclose details of the alleged incident behind them. The matters have been moved to the Domestic Violence Court for a hearing on September 25. Aguilera is not required to appear.
The influencer was previously granted bail on July 8 after being charged with rape and unlawful wounding over alleged incidents from November and December 2023. Her bail conditions included an order not to contact the complainant. Those allegations have also not been tested in court.
Aguilera has continued posting about her life and legal troubles online. In an August 1 video, she discussed making a virtual call to her jailed boyfriend, refers to herself frequently as a “jail wife”, and describes her life as chaotic following repeated visits to the watch-house.
Her case follows several other high-profile arrests involving online personalities. An American influencer was arrested after attacking two US soldiers, while a Brazilian creator was accused of staging her own kidnapping in an alleged attempt to gain followers.
What charges was Amelia Aguilera already facing?
Before her latest arrest, Aguilera was already facing two separate groups of criminal charges in Townsville.
In April 2026, the tattoo artist appeared in Townsville Magistrates Court charged with possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of weapons, possessing Schedule 4 or Schedule 8 medicines or hazardous poisons, and contravening a direction concerning electronically stored information.
Aguilera’s bail was initially refused before being granted shortly afterward. Her lawyer requested an adjournment so case conferencing could take place, and she entered no plea.
She returned to court proceedings in July after being charged with rape and unlawful wounding over alleged incidents in November and December 2023.
Police initially opposed bail but later agreed it could be granted provided Aguilera did not contact the complainant. A magistrate approved bail under that condition, while her lawyer requested a brief of evidence. Aguilera did not enter pleas to either charge.
During the hearing for her new torture, kidnapping, and extortion charges, Aguilera’s lawyer asked for the allegations to be adjourned to the same date as her existing matters. The court agreed and ordered prosecutors to provide a brief of evidence across all charges.
However, public reporting has not established that the fresh charges arise from the same alleged incidents or involve the same complainant as the rape and wounding case. The confirmed connection is currently procedural, with the court managing the matters together.
Aguilera’s charges are scheduled to return to Townsville’s Domestic Violence Court on September 25. She is not required to appear, and no pleas have been entered.
