Pokemon Bank just got its final eviction notice, and anyone still clinging to their 3DS collection needs to move fast.
The app has spent over a decade shuttling monsters between console generations, a process that survived eShop closures and 3DS shutdowns that killed off nearly everything else built for that system. But after Pokemon’s latest announcement, it turns out even the last 3DS holdout has a closing date.
Pokemon Bank’s shutdown date is locked in
Pokemon Bank will stop working at noon on February 26, 2027, Japan time, which lands the evening of February 25 in the US, The Pokemon Company confirmed.
The function that moves Pokemon from Bank into Pokemon HOME shuts off at that exact moment as well, so anyone with monsters still parked in Bank needs to send them to HOME before then, because there’s no reversing it once the clock runs out.
The Pokemon CompanyNew downloads of the app stopped a while back, and any PokeMile Points sitting in a Bank account won’t carry over to HOME either, which makes the whole deal absolutely final.
The news comes after bank went free in 2023 at a time in which the 3DS eShop closed its doors, and it kept running even after Nintendo cut the console’s wider online services in 2024. That extra mile made it the last working piece of 3DS connectivity still standing, a streak that ends next February.
Pokemon HOME isn’t slowing down to match it. Starting in October, HOME finally links with the Switch versions of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Kanto remakes that made their surprise jump to Switch earlier this year, and trainers who finish those games’ Pokedex get a Celebi waiting for them.
