A White House Instagram post is facing intense criticism after using Spider-Man imagery to promote ICE deportations.

Social media is up in arms after the official White House account on Instagram shared a Spider-Man-themed post about deporting “criminal illegal aliens.” The White House uploaded the post on August 6, 2026. The photos depict people webbed up like Spider-Man villains. The caption compares ICE agents to the popular comic book superhero.
The White House garnered a lot of criticism on Instagram and on other social media websites after people started sharing screenshots of the post. Many expressed their outrage bluntly. X user @PositivityWho’s post on the issue went viral, attracting millions of impressions. In their post, the X user called the White House’s Spider-Man-themed post “disgusting” and wrote:
“Absolutely disgusting.”
In the replies, @PositivityWho also claimed that the real Spider-Man would not condone the administration’s agenda, writing:
“Spider-Man stands for everything MAGA doesn’t.”
Many joined the X user in criticizing the White House as well.
“Spider-Man would NOT do this,” said @TheRiddler_Lord.
“Spider-Man wouldn’t support ICE btw,” claimed @No_regret_ghost.
“Bro, what? Spider-Man is literally a friendly neighborhood guy who protects regular people, not a government deportation mascot. This is so forced and weird,” wrote @FlashVas.
Several on the internet also urged Disney and Marvel to sue the White House for associating Spider-Man with ICE:
“DISNEY! SONY! SUE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT AND MY LIFE IS YOURS,” joked @ManiacVEVO.
“sony needs to send that cease & desist immediately,” urged @geekostylefun.
A few fans also pointed out the similarities between ICE and the villainous organization Damage Control. They are the main antagonists in the recently released Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
“Isn’t that basically what damage control were doing in the new film and the whole point was it was BAD!” exclaimed @BillyHamil90390.
That said, some supporters of the administration did support the message in the post from the White House.
“Absolutely disgusting that you want illegals coming into our country. That’s what absolutely disgusting. ICE is doing the right thing by getting the illegal aliens out of this country,” replied @SmokaToka420.
