Two French streamers convicted of repeatedly attacking and humiliating Jean Pormanove during broadcasts have received suspended prison sentences, sparing them from incarceration unless they reoffend.
The Nice Criminal Court delivered its verdict against Owen Cenazandotti, known online as Naruto, and Safine Hamadi on August 5 for violence and online humiliation.
Naruto, 27, was sentenced to two years in prison suspended and fined €15,000, around $17,400. Safine, 24, received an 18-month suspended sentence and a €5,000 fine, roughly $5,800.
Both streamers were also handed six-month “digital bans,” preventing them from publishing content on online platforms during that period.
The suspended sentences mean neither streamer will serve prison time unless they reoffend or breach conditions set by the court.
The case focused on thousands of hours of broadcasts streamed on Twitch and later Kick between 2023 and 2025. Pormanove, whose real name was Raphaël Graven, and Stéphane G., known as Coudoux, were shown being slapped, kicked, whipped, struck with a baseball bat, soaked with water, insulted, and shot with paintball projectiles. He died during an infamous 10 days of torture broadcast.

Prosecutors had demanded a tougher punishment for Naruto, including one year served at home under electronic monitoring and a €30,000 fine.
The prosecution requested an 18-month suspended sentence and €15,000 fine for Safine.
Prosecutor Maud Marty described the broadcasts as a “system of human mistreatment,” telling the court: “The violence is the program. It makes the script.”
Naruto maintained that the streams were staged entertainment and claimed the group “did good for a lot of people,” adding: “We didn’t see the harm.” Safine said he was “not proud” of his actions.
Pormanove died at the age of 46 during a marathon Kick broadcast on August 18, 2025. However, the trial did not concern his cause of death. An autopsy found no traumatic cause or evidence that another person was involved.

Coudoux also refused to condemn the streamers or consider himself a victim. “We were a bunch of friends, it was just our delusion,” he said.
The two streamers, now sentenced, have very different plans going forward. Saffine, who is without a job, said he expects “to be called a murderer and be insulted by the whole planet.”
Naruto, however, plans to make travel videos and is writing material for other content creators.
The controversy continued after members of the streamers’ Lokal collective resurfaced on Twitch. French authorities opened another investigation into alleged violence during the new broadcasts and seized computer equipment from the group’s streaming location. The streamers are also under investigation for their finances, having not reported their earnings to the tax authorities.
