Over 121,000 retro-style fridges have been recalled across the United States after one person died when one caught fire, and others have also set ablaze too.
If you buy something from a store that ends up on a recall list, chances are you’ve dodged a bullet. Items can be recalled for all sorts of different reasons, including the packaging exploding by mistake, wrong ingredients being listed, and other issues as well.
In the case of Galanz Americas, they’ve had to recall more than 121,000 retro-style fridges due to the risk of serious injuries or death from their fridges.
As per the Consumer Product Safety Commission, at least one person has died due to the fridges catching on fire, while there have been 34 reports of the fridges setting themselves ablaze.

“The recalled refrigerators’ internal electrical components can short circuit and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards,” the CPSC’s notice said.
The specific fridges that have been recalled were sold between January 2019 and September 2022, mainly through Home Depot and Amazon. They have the model numbers BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER or GLR76TWEER printed on the back of the unit.
Anyone who owns one of those models is urged to unplug the refrigerator and schedule a repair via Galanz, who will pick up the bill for the fix. However, with over 121,000 being problematic, you might be waiting a little bit on that front.

Additionally, the CPSC has also put a recall notice on more than 55,000 popcorn buckets from the releases of Captain America: Brave New World and Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The buckets contain button cell batteries that are easily accessible by children, and pose a risk of serious injuries such as internal chemical burns or even death, if swallowed by children.
