Black Clover was a series full of action and magic, crafted by Yuki Tabata, who began this journey in 2015. Finally, after years of waiting, the story officially concluded in May 2026. Through the ending of Black Clover, we saw the endgames of many character arcs. The protagonist, Asta, was one that most fans were intrigued by, and he won the title of the Wizard King, while Yuno, the deuteragonist, went on to become the Golden Dawn Squad Leader. We know from Black Clover Chapter 392 that Asta becomes the Wizard King, but his ascension to the throne was quite underwhelming, especially for the most anticipated moment in the series.
Now, months later, Yuki Tabata is redeeming himself and making an official comeback on August 4, 2026, with one more chapter spanning 15 pages. This chapter is officially showcasing Asta’s coronation as the Wizard King of Clover Kingdom. This is the moment fans of the series had been waiting for for over a decade, and we have a proper look at our main character fulfilling his dream for the first time in the new release.
Asta Was Officially Crowned The Wizard King On May 1, 2026, In Black Clover Chapter 391
Asta, the main character of Black Clover, was introduced in the very first chapter of the story on February 16, 2015, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #12. As the protagonist of the story, he is a character we’ve all grown to love and admire greatly. His determination and drive to never give up make him a fan favorite, despite being born different than the others and being ridiculed for most of his life.
Since the very first chapter of the story, we’ve known Asta’s ultimate dream was to become the Wizard King. Back then, it definitely sounded like an arduous task for him to accomplish, given that he was born without mana, something a Wizard must have, especially if they are to be crowned the strongest Wizard of the Clover Kingdom. However, against all odds, Asta achieved just that. His lack of mana turned out to be a blessing in disguise and allowed him to wield anti-magic through the Five Clover Devilish Grimoire.
At the end of Black Clover, Asta and Yuno had to fight bravely against the previous Wizard King, Julius and Lucius, two souls inhabiting one and making up Black Clover’s strongest character at the moment. After the fight wrapped up, however, it was time to determine a new Wizard King. To do that, the two strongest Wizards, Asta from the Black Bulls and Yuno from the Golden Dawn, engaged in a fight after a two-year time skip. At the end of a heated battle spanning over chapters 390 and 391, we finally saw the final winner to be Asta.
Consequently, on May 1, 2026, in Black Clover Chapter 391, it was officially confirmed that Asta was to become the Wizard King. While we know that he gained this title, a lot of content was skimmed over, which fans were disappointed by. The biggest moment in the whole series that moved the narrative forward was the Wizard King dream, and for it not to be given attention certainly wasn’t a great decision.
New August 4 Black Clover Chapter Will Finally Showcase Asta’s Coronation
Shueisha has confirmed that on August 4, 2026, Black Clover is making a grand return. On this date, we will see the release of Black Clover Volume 38, covering the last stretch of the story. However, the final volume is not releasing by itself. We now know that Black Clover is also getting a new guidebook, and in it, Yuki Tabata has included a new, never-before-seen chapter that is 15 pages long. For a while, we were unaware of what this new chapter would be about. On July 26, 2026, Shueisha released a teaser officially confirming that the new chapter included in the guidebook would be about Asta’s coronation.
We already knew Asta realized his dream of becoming Wizard King, but we never saw him bathe in his glory as he achieved his ultimate goal. Asta had been on this journey for years, and to not see him properly take the crown would have been disappointing in the grand scheme of things.
With the new chapter set to drop soon, this will be addressed, and we will get a look at Asta as the new leader of the Clover Kingdom and stand as its strongest Wizard. In the upcoming release, we will also get the reactions of many characters at Asta’s Coronation, including the likes of Yuno, his lifelong rival, and Noelle, his great friend and potential romance, who fought side by side with him for many arcs. This chapter will be the end of Black Clover until further notice, making it the new true ending of the story, with only the anime adaptation remaining to look forward to.
Asta’s Future In Black Clover As The New Wizard King
The new Black Clover chapter, which is releasing on August 4, 2026, is one that many fans are excited to see unfold. This is especially because some fans were disappointed with the initial ending, where even main characters like Asta and Yuno got the short end of the stick. Clearly, Yuki Tabata didn’t have time to properly conclude his story, but now, the author has the opportunity to change our minds with the new chapter. Either way, this new chapter will provide a great look into Asta’s future, and Black Clover as a whole.
As the new Wizard King, we could see Asta take on big responsibilities in the new chapter. We’ve only seen Asta acquire the title so far, but we haven’t seen him in action as the Wizard King, which is definitely something that should change before the story ends. We would love to see Asta commanding the Magic Knight Squads and showcasing his might as the new strongest of the Clover Kingdom, acting as a righteous ruler after the events that unfolded with Julius, his predecessor.
In this new chapter, we may also see Tabata set up Asta’s future outside of combat or as the Wizard King. For one, Asta’s romance was never addressed at the end of the story. All we know is that Mimosa and Noelle are both competing for his heart. However, it’s time for Yuki Tabata to drop the facade and confirm who the true endgame of Asta is. With the romance set up, we could see the future of Asta and his potential family. This could be a great setup if Yuki Tabata ever wants to return to the story and expand the lore of Black Clover with a new sequel or spin-off.
