Turning a manga into an anime is one of the most important decisions in any author’s life. After all, it’s a well-known fact that an anime adaptation is pivotal for a manga to reach a wider audience. The prospect of reaching a lot more people is appealing to the authors, which is why they agree to their work being turned into an anime.
In most cases, the risk pays off, and the anime is positively received by the audience. But in some cases, the studio makes some rather foolish choices that end up disrespecting the source material altogether. These choices are not just limited to straying away from the source material, but they also include lowering the quality of production.

Berserk Lost Its Identity After Trying 3D Animation
The first anime for Berserk was released in 1997, and it was truly a magnificent adaptation. The pacing was perfect, the animation was good, and Susumu Hirasawa’s soundtrack was mesmerizing. Unfortunately, it was the first and last great adaptation of Berserk. What followed were several mediocre anime that tried to use 3D animation to recreate the magic of Berserk.
It was a complete disaster. Yet it didn’t stop the studio from churning out two whole seasons, one worse than the other. Currently, the future of the Berserk anime is in limbo, and it’s highly unlikely to change in the coming years.

One Punch Man Manga Hype Was Ruined By The Anime
When the first season of One Punch Man launched, nobody would have believed that it would go downhill so quickly. The first season was produced by Madhouse, one of the greatest studios in the world. However, it wasn’t involved in the subsequent season, so instead, the responsibility fell on the shoulders of J.C. Staff.
There is no doubt that J.C. Staff put in a great deal of effort into making the One Punch Man anime, but sadly, they couldn’t produce the same level of quality as Madhouse. There was a huge backlash on social media, with fans demanding a remake of the second and third seasons under a different studio.

One Piece Anime Consistently Tries To Ruin Sanji’s Character
The One Piece anime is produced by the ever-reliable Toei Animation. It is one of the biggest studios in Japan, and it has been responsible for producing some of the most iconic anime adaptations of all time. Due to the resources at their disposal, Toei Animation has created a wonderful adaptation for One Piece that is visually stunning, and it is rather pleasing to watch.
The problem doesn’t lie with the animation, but rather with the way the anime handles some of the characters, most notably Sanji of the Straw Hat Pirates. Sanji has a running gag where he gets immediately smitten by any beautiful woman that he sees, but the anime takes it a step too far, making Sanji seem like a pervert. There have also been moments where the staff has excluded Sanji from crucial scenes altogether. This is undoubtedly a huge disrespect towards the character painstakingly created by Eiichiro Oda.

When the anime adaptation for Tokyo Ghoul was announced, most people were happy as they believed they would finally get to see their beloved Kaneki Ken in action. The first season of the anime was impressive, and it drew worldwide acclaim from fans and critics alike, but the seasons that followed were nothing but horrendous. The source material was completely ignored. The pacing was off, and entire storylines were butchered. To this day, fans are hoping that another studio will pick up the manga and produce a more faithful adaptation.

The Promised Neverland Ruined The Manga’s Reputation
When The Promised Neverland launched in Weekly Shonen Jump, everyone was simply blown away by the writing. The feeling among the masses was that the magazine had found the next big hit. Naturally, everybody knew that The Promised Neverland would soon be picked up by a studio for an anime adaptation.
When the first season released, everyone was happy and content with what they had seen, but once the second season premiered, everything was ruined. The studio adapted more than 100 chapters and compressed them into a season with just 16 episodes, thanks to the abysmal pacing. Fans completely lost interest in the story, and they no longer cared about it.

The Seven Deadly Sins was yet another promising anime that many believed could change the shonen industry forever. The first two seasons of The Seven Deadly Sins were quite incredible. Not only did they reveal several interesting plot points, but they also made sure that the action was on point.
However, like the other entries on the list, the anime adaptation went completely downhill, and it completely destroyed any momentum and hype that it had built over the past years. By the time the series ended, nobody even cared about it.
