Roblox The Forge is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious action RPGs on the platform—mixing mining, crafting, combat, exploration, and build customization into one massive progression journey. Instead of simply fighting enemies, players become blacksmith adventurers, gathering ores, forging weapons and armor, and enhancing them with powerful runes before heading into tougher islands, dungeons, and PvP arenas. With a skill-based combat system, race rerolls, dozens of weapon styles, and a constantly expanding world, The Forge delivers a deep but fair grind loop that rewards strategy, patience, and smart upgrades. Whether you’re just starting on Stonewake’s Cross or preparing for late-game challenges, this guide will help you understand how the entire experience works from the ground up.
1. What Is Roblox The Forge?
The Forge is an upcoming Roblox action RPG where you play as a blacksmith-adventurer. The whole game revolves around:
- Mining 60+ different ores
- Forging and upgrading weapons and armor
- Fighting enemies and bosses on several islands
- Customizing your build with races and runes
You gather ores, craft gear, power it up with runes, and then use that gear to clear harder areas, dungeons, and later PvP arenas. It’s being developed by FireAtacck and a small team, with a strong focus on fair, non–pay-to-win progression.
2. Release Date, Stress Test & Platforms
- Platform: Roblox (PC, mobile, Xbox – like most Roblox experiences).
- 24-hour Stress Test: October 26, 2025.
- Beta Release Date: November 26, 2025.
3. Core Gameplay Loop
The basic loop is:
- Pick or roll your race (for passive bonuses).
- Spawn on the first island (Stonewake’s Cross).
- Mine ores using pickaxes.
- Forge weapons and armor from those ores.
- Power them up with runes for extra stats and elemental effects.
- Use your build to fight enemies, clear dungeons, and eventually do PvP in designated areas.
The entire progression is designed so you can’t just rush to ultra-rare ores or gear; you move up step by step by improving your tools and level.
4. Controls & Combat System
Combat is skill-based, with an emphasis on movement, dodging, and timing. There’s no parry mechanic, so you rely on blocking and dashing.
Default controls:
- CTRL – Shift Lock
- Q – Dash (dodge and reposition)
- R or Right-click in Shift Lock – Heavy attack
- Shift – Sprint
- T – Open menu
- F – Block
Enemies can hit hard, so good positioning and knowing when to dash or block matter more than simply spamming attacks.
PvP exists, but only inside specific PvP zones, not in the entire open world. That lets players focus on PvE exploration without random ganks.
5. Mining & Pickaxes
Mining is the foundation of progression:
- There are 60+ unique ores in the game.
- Ores are grouped into ore pools, each one tied to a pickaxe tier.
- Each pickaxe tier unlocks new ore pools – low-tier pickaxes simply cannot mine the higher-tier ores.
- Pickaxes have rune slots, so you can enhance them for faster mining or better drops.
This design stops new players from getting super-rare ores by luck and keeps progression fair and structured.
6. Races System
There are 13 races, each with its own rarity and passive effects. You obtain them in a gacha-style system, and stronger races are rarer.
Example breakdown (shortened):
- Common / Uncommon: Human, Elf, Zombie – easier to get, moderate bonuses.
- Rare / Epic: Goblin, Undead, Orc, Dwarf, Shadow – stronger bonuses but with drawbacks (e.g., Undead has lower max HP but reflective damage and a powerful emergency heal).
- Legendary / Mythical: Minotaur, Dragonborn, Golem, Angel, Demon – very low drop chances and very strong passives.
You can change your race at the Wizard’s Tower on the first island if you’re not happy with your current one.
7. Weapon Types & Armor
The Forge launches with three armor slots:
- Helmet
- Chestplate
- Leggings
And nine melee weapon styles, each with its own playstyle:
- Fists – Close-range brawling
- Dagger – Fast and agile
- Straight Sword – Balanced
- Axe – High damage, slower
- Katana – Swift, precise
- Greatsword – Heavy two-handed weapon
- Great Axe – Even more damage, very slow
- Colossal Weapon – Massive power, big wind-up
- Scythe – Wide, stylish attack patterns
At launch there are no magical staffs or ranged magic weapons planned, but some weapons (like Dragonslayer) hint at anime or movie-inspired gear later.
8. Runes & Item Customization
Runes are how you customize and power up your equipment:
- You get runes from enemy drops, quests, and achievements.
- Gear usually has up to three rune slots.
- Two main rune categories:
- Elemental Runes – add fire, ice, lightning and other elemental effects.
- Trait Runes – non-elemental stat boosts and special traits (extra damage, defenses, etc.).
You install and manage runes at the Runemaker or dedicated upgrade locations on the island.
9. Leveling, Inventory & Trading
Character levels matter a lot:
- Leveling makes your character tougher for higher-tier islands and dungeons.
- The biggest reward for leveling right now is more inventory space, letting you carry more ores, runes, and items.
- Trading is a late-game feature unlocked only after solid progression, so players first experience the game rather than just flipping items.
10. Islands, Map & Important NPCs
Islands
At release, The Forge has three islands, each with its own enemies, resources, and content.
- You start on Stonewake’s Cross.
- There’s fast travel between unlocked islands.
- World events and future islands are planned to keep the game updated.
Important locations on Stonewake’s Cross
All of these are clustered around your starter hub:
- The Forge – where you craft and upgrade weapons.
- Maria’s Potion Shop – buy health and stamina boosts.
- Marble’s Shop – sell unwanted items.
- Greedy Cey’s Shop – trade resources like ores and runes.
- Wizard’s Tower – change your race.
- Miner Fred’s Shop – buy pickaxes for new ore tiers.
- Bard – get a lantern for dark areas.
- Runemaker / Upgrade area – add runes and enhance gear.
11. PvP, Dungeons & Future Content
From early info and FAQs:
- PvP is limited to special arenas/zones.
- PvE content includes dungeons, quests, boss fights, and world events.
- The devs aim for no pay-to-win gamepasses (for example, no double luck that decides everything). You can still buy cosmetics, potions, and some gamepasses, but they are not meant to give massive combat advantages.
12. Quick Practical Tips
Some fast advice you can add to any guide:
- Upgrade your pickaxe early – new ore pools mean faster progression than a tiny damage boost on a weak weapon.
- Pick a race that matches your style – e.g., Undead for risk/reward tankiness, Human if you want simple stat boosts.
- Don’t ignore runes – even one or two basic runes on your weapon can change how hard you hit or how safe you feel.
- Treat dashes like a resource – save Q for big enemy attacks instead of spamming it randomly.
- Use PvP zones only when you’re ready – farm in PvE first, get solid gear, then move to PvP.
- Visit every shop on the first island – each NPC unlocks a different part of the loop (mining, upgrading, potions, race changes, etc.).
