MrBeast spent $7M and hired 250 artists for animated series featuring Marvel & Star Wars voice actors

MrBeast has revealed that he spent $7 million creating the second season of his animated series, Beast Labs, bringing together hundreds of artists and voice actors from major franchises.

The YouTube star originally released a 30-minute pilot for the show in 2025, but decided to overhaul the project after viewers criticized its storyline, characters, and lack of emotional depth.

In a new behind-the-scenes video, Jimmy Donaldson explained how he assembled an international production team to improve the series, recruiting talent with experience working on Marvel, Star Wars, South Park, and Bob’s Burgers.

According to MrBeast, the new season involved 250 artists from 16 countries, who worked together to produce more than 140,000 hand-drawn frames of animation.

The creator initially attempted to animate the project himself before realizing he needed a much larger team to bring his vision to life.

He also recruited experienced television writers to address criticism of the original pilot, including Jameel Saleem, who previously worked on South Park and Bob’s Burgers.

“With Beast animation, our rule from day one was character first,” Saleem explained. “You can’t just throw them into fights. You have to make the audience care about who wins.”

The production also expanded beyond the laboratory setting featured in the original pilot, introducing new environments including deserts, cities, shopping malls, and car chases.

MrBeast said the third episode is “basically a Mad Max movie,” while confirming that Season 2 runs for more than 100 minutes.

The revamped show also features established voice actors, including Fred Tatasciore, who has voiced the Hulk across Marvel projects, alongside talent associated with Star Wars and anime productions.

MrBeast specifically highlighted Tatasciore’s performance, claiming the actor became emotional while recording dialogue for the series.

“That’s Fred Tatasciore. He voiced the Hulk for 15 years, and as he was voicing our show… he cried,” Donaldson said.

Several familiar internet personalities also appear in the new season, with streamers Sketch and Valkyrae featured in the first episode.

Members of MrBeast’s own team have roles as well, including Nolan and Tareq, while the character Panthar returns with a more developed storyline.

Donaldson also addressed comparisons between the show’s animation and Invincible, noting that viewers had repeatedly brought up the Amazon animated superhero series in comments on a recent teaser.

“Weirdly, quite a bit of them are about how the animation is better than Invincible,” he said. “I don’t know why everyone keeps commenting that, but that aside, everyone seems VERY excited.”

Despite the show’s animated format, MrBeast suggested viewers shouldn’t assume it is intended exclusively for younger audiences.

“People think it’s a kid show? They have NO idea what’s about to hit them,” he said.
